"White Noise" 1965 Chevy II Gasser

This car is as period correct as it possibly can be, built the way straight axle AFX gassers were built at the height of their popularity in the 60s, right down to the drilled out frame and doors for lighter weight. The car is very well known throughout the Midwest and you may have seen it raced at the “Meltdown” Drags in Byron, IL. It also made the cover and feature spread article in the “Gears and Gals” magazine featuring the Meltdown Drags in 2013. A copy of the magazine in perfect condition is included.

The car is painted in white primer sealer and has dark blue candy stripes on the hood and trunk with its name “White Noise” and lettering hand painted by the legendary, Ted Turner, who does all the top fuel driver helmets. This car needs nothing. Starts right up. It is a one of a kind turnkey, drag race ready straight axel AWB/AFX vintage built gasser needing only a new owner/driver, fine-tuned to your racing specifications.

Ownership History:

The car originally came from Alabama with Alabama plates. What started out as a shell found in a field for $800 was transformed into a period correct straight axle AWB/AFX gasser professionally built by Kip Hansberry in Beloit, WI in 2011. The original setup was a 454/30 over BBC with an Edelbrock dual quad intake and 2 600 CFM Edelbrock carbs.

The second owner, Brad Wise, in Blue Springs, MO purchased the car from Kip in September 2012 and replaced the Edelbrock set-up with a Hilborn FI stack intake mated to a MegaSquirt DYI EFI unit. While the Hilborn stacks created a nostalgic look, it was not set-up properly as the Hilborn rectangular ports did not match up to the oval head ports, causing the engine to overload with fuel and run too rich.

I acquired the car in March 2017 from Cali-Motors, a dealer in Fort Myers, FL who acquired the car at a Mecum auction in Kissimmee, FL in January 2017. I then replaced the race-tired 454 with a new balanced and blueprinted 454/60 over 468 2-bolt main BBC with the correct Dart cast iron heads from Summit Racing to properly retrofit the existing Hilborn FI system that is now mated to a high-end Holley EFI HP ECU. The current setup produced 543.7hp and 594,7 Ft-Lbs on the Dyno at 3.400 RPM. This engine is a stump puller!

While the car was not Dyno-tested at the rear wheels, it is estimated to produce 480hp to the rear axle. The engine was built by legendary engine builder, Chuck Wright of Pro Car Associates in Akron, Ohio where installation was completed on 2/21/2018 at a total cost of $13,325.00. The engine was fully broken in on the Dyno and, since it was installed, the car has never been raced and in fact has only been taken out to local care shows where it is always a big hit and draws a huge crowd.

These photos are photos of the car from when I acquired it. The last photo is from the original owner who built and raced the car with a 454 dual quad set up. Other than a few cool nostalgic vinyl graphics that I added that can be easily removed, the car looks exactly the same as the day I bought it.

I have nearly $33,000 in this car and my reserve is significantly less. I am selling because I'm 64 and planning for retirement. I've enjoyed taking this car to local cruise ins and tooling around in it, but it's time to let it go to someone else who may be looking for a nostalgic gasser to race or just take to car shows.I have a ton more photos and video. Please ask any questions. Just message me with your cell number and I will text them to you. Thanks! Mark

FYI: the photos of the engine bay are of the car with the old tired 454. As you can see from the photos of the engine on the dyno and of the installation, the new engine has a Canton oil pan.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. I will post answers here. Thanks, Mark

On Feb-13-22 at 09:36:40 PST, seller added the following information:

FYI: yes, I have receipts and full documentation of all work that is done, including dyno sheets. The engine builder, Chuck Wright, believed the car can achieve mid to high 10s in the 1/4, but I have never raced it so, I can't verify that. The rear tires are brand new, not Towel City retread pie cutters, but brand new Coker tires and the front are brand new radials. Both have replaced the tires that were originally on the car when I got it.

FYI: yes, the battery is brand new. Yes, the car is plated with Ohio historic plates and driven on the street. Headlights/Tail lights/Turn signals all work.

FYI: yes, the Holley EFI is "self remembering" and does not need to be programmed unless you want to tweak it for racing conditions.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. I will post answers here. Thanks, Mark

On Feb-16-22 at 10:10:58 PST, seller added the following information:

FYI: yes, I will provide a bill of sale along with a copy of a clean title. I have bought and sold many cars on eBay over the past 20 years and am very familiar with the steps that both the buyer and seller needs to transact and complete the sale. Thanks, Mark

On Feb-16-22 at 14:34:02 PST, seller added the following information:

FYI: Why no current pics? It's been very, very cold and very snowy here in Canton, Ohio, I keep the car stored in my heated shop with 7 other cars. It's very difficult to take the same view shots of the original pics of the car that I posted here. Other than a few really cool nostalgic graphics that I added, the car looks is exactly the same. I have tons of pics, just text or message me. Thanks, Mark

FYI: Do you have video of the car? Yes, I have a cold start video of the car as well as the engine being tested on the dyno and multiple other videos of the car. Just message me or send me a text and I will send you whatever you want. Thanks, Mark
