Today's collector car market seems to be very firm pricewise but there are shooting stars.   The shooting stars today seem to be the cars that are a little on the edgy side such as Kurtis'. Muntz'. Nash Healeys and Kaiser-Darrins.  

We have noticed for the last year that Kaiser-Darrins have been extremely popular and the prices have been on a rapidly escalating basis.   We believe that this will continue and are therefore delighted to bring you what we consider to be the finest Kaiser-Darrin restoration that exists.   The seller of this car has restored several Kaiser-Darrins. some of which have been sold and have broken records.   He has indicated that this is the finest example of his work that he has turned out and believes that there is not a better Kaiser-Darrin.   The seller states that in his opinion this car is done to the highest museum and show standards and should win a first prize and possible Best of Show in any serious competition.  

To make this auction even more interesting the seller who thought that this was the one Kaiser-Darrin that he would never sell has reached some financial crossroads that is requiring him to sell the car.   While he has mentioned selling this car previously we were very surprised at the very low reserve that he has placed on this car to assure that it will get sold.   

We must say that when you can get what should be the finest Kaiser-Darrin that exists at a very competitive price. being the winner will be an exuberating experience.   Now to get into the detail of this car following will give you more information so that you can bid with confidence.

Many important collections seem to either have or be looking for a Kaiser-Darrin to add to their repertoire.   After all Dutch Darrin who is one of the true great classic car designers designed them.   The design for the Kaiser-Darrin was one of his masterpieces in his later years.   Everybody is always fascinated with the fact that the Kaiser-Darrin is truly America's first sports car as it came out before the 1953 Corvette.   Of course it is a full fiberglass car and the only car that we know of that ever had sliding doors.   We have certainly seen our share of Kaiser-Darrins and even when they are in tattered condition they still look darn good.  

Now MissChiTown. LLC is amazed. as you will be when you see the pictures of the Kaiser-Darrin that we are offering.   The gentleman who owns this car has asked us to market it for him and he didn't have to ask twice.   Without a doubt in our eyes there is and could not be any finer Kaiser-Darrin then the one that you see in this ad.   Everything is crisp. highly detailed and just amazing.   All work has been done by professionals that are experts in their field.   Look at any of the pictures whether it is the paint. top. interior or engine compartment and you will be amazed at the quality of the materials and the care that has been given to every detail.  

In the past we have seen some Kaiser-Darrin's that have appeared to us to be 100 points or very near that; that was until we saw this car.   If those cars were 100 points then this car must be 110 points.   We don't believe that you could make a Kaiser-Darrin any better then the one that you see before you.   For those of you that know the costs of restoration you know that you cannot restore this car for anywhere near the reserve price that is currently on it (and of course that would not consider the cost of the car itself – if you could find one).

We could go on and on about how impressed we are with the car but we think that the pictures can do the talking.

Early American sports car are the ‘in' thing and of course Kaiser-Darrin's are at the top of the list!   In our eyes this is and will be in the future the finest Kaiser-Darrin that money and opportunity will buy.  

It appears ready to take a first prize at any serious car show such as Pebble Beach. Amelia Island or the newest of great Concours shows The Elegance at Hershey.  

In closing we can tell you is that Kaiser-Darrin's are the most highly collectible early sports cars that seem to be appreciating the quickest.  When cars are made in the limited production and the total production is around 500 and the cars are of fantastic design. you can always bet that they are going to appreciate the fastest.   Yes. only 435 Kaiser-Darrin's were produced in 1954.

For those that know Kaiser-Darrin's. when restored the prices continue to climb every year and when you think about it why shouldn't they.   They are among America's first fiberglass sports cars and there is yet to be another manufacturer in the world that has come up with the idea to have the doors slide into the front fenders rather then open out.   The landau tops are beautifully done and of course the full artwork of this car was done by one of the most famous designers that existed in the 1930s. 1940s and 1950s named Dutch Darrin. he did such noteworthy designs as the Packard Darrin's which are held in the highest regards by classic car collectors.

The following is information that has been found on the Internet that is somewhat technical and may be of interest to people that are not fully familiar with the Kaiser-Darrin's specs and details.

Now for some semi-historic facts:  Dutch Darrin designed some of the most beautiful custom Packard's in the 1930's and he was known to design cars 100% himself.    Another designer like this that comes to mind is Virgil Exner.   At GM the designs were under the orchestration of Harley Earl but there were large groups of designers who worked together in studios to get the final result.

The Kaiser-Darrin was America's first sports car and its first fiberglass car and it beat the Corvette to the market in 1952 with its prototype by a matter of days in 1953.   The other extremely distinguishing factor of this car is how the doors slide into the front fender.   No other car before that seemed to put that idea into production.   The bucket seats. full sports-car instrumentation and a floor shifter marked it as a true sports car.

From the frontend design to the distinctive Landau convertible top or the fact that the Kaiser-Darrin was put onto a US postage stamp several years ago indicate Kaiser-Darrin's are the hot collectable now and even more so in the future.   This car is truly distinctive and in no way has it reached the start of its fast appreciation cycle in terms of value.

All Kaiser-Darrin's run a six cylinder engine that can propel it over 100 mph.   In 1954 the car was listed at $3. 68.   At that time you could purchase a Chevrolet sedan for around $1. 00. 00.   We have heard many collectors mention that besides the beautiful front end and the highly recognized Darrin dip between the front and rear fenders. the taillights and rear end make this one of the most beautiful cars ever produced.   We just love the interior and the way the stitching pattern works on the seats and the doors.   It is truly distinctive and sporty with a touch of luxury.   In reference to the special Landau convertible top you can drive with it in three position: that is with the top fully up. with the top fully down or with the top pulled back over the drivers compartment but with the rear portion of the convertible top still up.
