1956 Chevrolet 210 2-Door Sedan

The Chevrolet Two-Ten, or 210, was the midrange model of the Chevrolet car from 1953 to 1957. It took its name by shortening the production series number, (2100), by one digit in order to capitalize on the 1950's trend toward numerical auto names. The numerical designation '"210"' was also sporadically used in company literature. It replaced the Styleline DeLuxe model available in previous years. The Two-Ten was discontinued after the 1957 model year to be replaced by the Biscayne. The Two-Ten shared the wedge-shaped side trim with the Bel Air, but unlike the Bel Air, (which had the wedge filled with an aluminum trim panel), the Two-Ten's wedge was painted either body color, or top color with the optional two-tone paint package. "Chevrolet" in script was mounted inside the wedge.

This very nice example of a 3-owner 210 2 door in its original exterior colors and never modified. Sporting its original 6-cylinder, bright and shiny trim, and snappy interior you can't go wrong with this middle year, documented ultra-low mileage, (15,453), Chevy from the Tri-Five craze.

ExteriorA respray of the original Inca Silver covers the panels of this 210 and presents with some sanding scratches, dents, scrapes and blotchiness of the paint particularly on the roof. Chrome bumpers are good, and the trim is shiny with no dimpling. The Chevrolet script in your grandmother's handwriting is also good. 15-inch body colored steel wheels with dog dish style caps wrapped in black wall rubber are seen on all 4 corners. A shout to the rear brake lights with their Buck Rogers styling within ever so slightly finned rear quarter corners. From the front hood ornament of the streaking jet, single headlight on either side with a chromed visor above and lots-o-chrome below with the egg crate silver grille and lower bumper with extra chrome vertical bump bars. Let's go to the drive-in and turn some heads on nostalgia night. A shout out to the curved glass in front and back, which wraps around to form the rear of the passenger's compartment, which we are waiting with eager anticipation to enter and read about...here we go!

InteriorStarting at the base, like new black rubber matting covers the floors. What may be factory installed upholstery is clean and in split bench seat form is a mix of charcoal cloth and textured white vinyl the rear bench follows suit in both material and condition. Also, fabric on the door panels appears original as well as the headliner. An all-steel black dash matches the quality of the rest of the car. The dash is stunning with the all black, and the two fan like bumps holding the speedometer and the passenger Chevrolet logo in your grandmother's script are present and cannot be missed. An original steering wheel is seen fronting the dash. An AM/FM/Cassette radio is installed in the dash but since this was a radio delete car the consignor retained the delete plate.

DrivetrainLifting the hood we see the factory applied coating on the underside and between the fenders is a very simplistic blue painted 235ci inline 6-cylinder. This is attached to the original 3-speed transmission, and the two work together beautifully to feed power back to the rear axle weighing in with a 3.70 ratio

UndercarriageDue to the low mileage and excellent care over the years we see a clean undercarriage with just patina, surface rust and factory undercoating. A strong rust-free frame supports the factory floors and rockers which are rust free as are the numerous body hangers. Independent coil spring suspension with drum brakes is noted up front and in the back, we see leaf springs and drum brakes. A surface rusted but complete single exhaust system rounds out our tour down below.

Drive-AbilityThe car runs smooth and quiet, accelerates nicely and shifts smoothly through the gears. It has a nice cruising altitude if you will, and an overall comfortable seating and ride. A very impressive fun and event free test drive from this classic.

A 3-owner car has undergone a few minor changes but remains mostly original, with some of the exterior panels starting to show some wear and tear, and a beautiful 50's interior. A solid power plant, a nicely colored example of the mid Tri Five era in the mid end trim form of a 210. And the dual fan dash is to die for!
