"Nothing succeeds like the 1977 Eldorado's excess." – Hagerty Media, August 2019

The website, , also gave these American luxury cars a major thumbs-up: "The 1977 Cadillac Eldorado is a stunning vehicle to behold and was one of the five most expensive vehicles to buy in 1977, with the base model starting at $11,187. In today's money, that is around $48,000. Not that much by 2020 Cadillac standards, but still quite an expensive vehicle regardless. The car was designed to be considered luxurious and more on the elegant side, versus sleek and sexy. With Cadillac's storied history and attention to detail, the '77 Cadillac was truly a culmination of American engineering and refinement. ... the 1977 Cadillac Eldorado is a timeless piece of automobile history."

In Detroit parlance, "Eldos" were always "loaded" automobiles: "Standard equipment for the 1977 Cadillac Eldorados included: AM/FM Signal Seeking Stereo radio with automatic power antenna, power windows and door locks, Automatic Climate Control w/economy setting, tinted glass, 6-way power seat, and white-wall steel-belted radials. Also standard were Automatic Level Control, Variable Ratio Power steering, power brakes with front discs, and Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission."

Offered here is a 1977 Cadillac Eldorado showing 69,149 original miles on its odometer, or fewer than 1,600 miles per-year since new. The pride of ownership this car inspired can best be appreciated by noting its near-showroom, survivor condition inside and out. (In that regard, a fabric car cover and battery maintainer are included in the sale.)

The car's beautiful and relatively rare exterior metallic Thyme Green Firemist (code 94) paint color adds its own exclamation point to this American beauty. The original finish remains uniformly shiny across the entire body. Panel-fit lines are excellent, and all body panels are free of damage. The landau-style, padded white vinyl half-roof with "opera" windows and Cadillac logo emblems remains in excellent condition. (To best assess the quality of the paint and chrome finish, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The bespoke chrome Cadillac grille-with quad rectangular headlights incorporated-shines beautifully; it is an impressive sight viewed head-on with "Eldorado" prominent above the grille. Other brightwork-including windshield trim, Cadillac-branded side mirrors, bodyside trim, door handles, and rear bumper-exhibits the same condition. Twin, white paint stripes accent the model's horizontal lines and meet on the rear decklid. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and undamaged. All badging and emblems are present in their factory-affixed locations. Brushed-metal full wheel covers (with Cadillac logos) and correct whitewall tires are mounted.

Inside, the overall design, the surfaces and the component features all convey a distinct first-class-lounge vibe. The tufted, square-panel design leather upholstery on the fold-forward 50-50 front seats and rear bench (surrounded by woodgrain trim) has been perfectly maintained; its promise of comfort positively beckons. Door panels combine leather, woodgrain, and chrome trim in perfect harmony, all equally well-kept. The car's expansive woodgrain-trimmed dashboard is framed by the black padded steering wheel with Cadillac logo; textured wood trim extends across the dash to the passenger side. Dash surfaces-including black-padded top, chrome switchgear highlights, woodgrain trim-is all extremely well-maintained with virtually no patina nor any sign of inconsiderate use. The automatic-transmission shifter is column-mounted. The factory AM-FM stereo radio remains mounted. Black cabin carpeting in excellent condition covers the floors. The car's trunk exhibits the same excellent condition as the rest of the car.

Under the hood, the original 425-cubic-inch (7-liter) V8 powerplant fills a well-kept, clean, and fully stock engine bay. Correct Cadillac-blue engine-block paint is noteworthy. All components are properly mounted. Viewed from below, the car's chassis is complete and undamaged, with light surface rust consistent with the car's age and mileage present on untreated metal.

While the more than 150 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '77 Eldorado in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
