1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Convertible 4 Spd. for sale
Current customer rating: (323 votes ) based onThe engine is a 1966 396 big block with the original heads and forged crankshaft. The block has been baked and ultrasonically cleaned. It is bored 30 over. The rotating assembly has been balanced. The valve seats
have been ground. The block and head have been magnafluxed. The heads have new Manley valves. new Edelbrock springs and retainers.
The engine has a Comp cam and Comp cam lifters and double roller timing chain. The new parts are power steering pump. alternator. and steering gear box. This car has disc brakes. front drum rear. All harnesses are
new American auto wire including dash harness. The clutch. pressure plate. and flywheel are new.
The transmission is a numbers correct M21 Muncie that is totally rebuilt. The rear end is the original 12 bolt that has 411 Richmond gears and all new seals and bearings also a new yoke. The drive shaft is original with
new U joints.
All rubber on this car is new and I mean everything.
The interior is new. seat covers. door panels. etc. Seat center console are original. Top motor and hoses are new. Convertible top and all rubber for top are new. This entire car has been disassembled and chemically
stripped or media blasted.
The paint is PPG base clear. This is an investment grade car. The pictures will show the frame off restoration as well as the finished product. This restoration took 1 ½ years to complete. The pictures in this ad are the
pictures that nobody ever shows you. unless you actually do a true frame-off rotisserie restoration with no expenses spared you wont have these pictures to show anyone.
It's the original rear end 3875745N. The engine is a 1966 3855961. numbers correct but not the motor that was born with the car (no fake stampings). The bell housing is an original GM 3899621. Radiator is the
original Harrison and the radiator support is the original 1966 support. The hood is all
original. All doors are original. Trunk lid is original. The intake manifold is the original cast iron Holly. The exhaust manifolds are the cast iron numbers correct.
All the sheet metal on this car was chemically stripped down to the bare metal. Any repairs at this time was mig or tig welded. All sheet metal was epoxy primed with PPG DP 90. This car was never separated from
the frame until we separated them. The body was first braced using the convertible braces and additional bracing was added to keep the body from twisting. The frame has the original OA smith double stamp last four
digits of the VIN tag on the driver's side top. The frame was then sandblasted to bare metal and was in excellent condition needing no repairs. It was then epoxy primed and guide coated. It was painted the correct
color. chassis black. The bottom and interior of the car was sandblasted down to bare metal. epoxy primed. The bottom of the car was then sanded and guide coated. The car has all the original floor braces. Before
painting. the car was primed and block sanded multiple times. It was then painted with PPG Marina Blue. 3 coats of PPG clear. wet sanded and buffed with 3M 3 stage buffing system. The car has all original glass. In
the interior the dash was chemically stripped. epoxy primed. and sprayed with 6 coats PPG bright blue lacquer. The entire interior was reupholstered. new foam. new burlap. and springs were sandblasted and painted.
The convertible top is brand new. The convertible top frame was stripped down to bare metal and every shim and rubber gasket was replaced. The top was applied using the correct stainless steel staples and hardware.
