This is a Los Angeles built car as denoted by the "L" in the VIN.
LA cars do not say Z28 on the trim tag.
I bought this car from a friend in my neighborhood. he is an enthusiast and he worked for 2 well respected. Miami restoration shops. The Z28 has always been taken care of by people who recognized it for what it is. This was his daily driver until 1985. In 1985 he took it off the road and stored it indoors. driving occasionally.
In 1989 he moved to another warehouse. taking the car with him. At this time the carb was rebuilt and the fuel tank was replaced. The Z28 remained stored indoors. WITHOUT FUEL until I bought it in January.
I have been trying to buy this car for 30 years. Please see the pictures in "as found" condition. As I said. I bought this from a long time friend and associate. My friend is a highly skilled automotive mechanic specializing in 63-72 corvettes. This was his personal car for 37 years. accordingly it is VERY nice.
The car was painted in 1981 by the previous owner. He had the skill and the ability to do it himself. The paint is excellent.
I have a small. Blue . Florida title issued in 1976. With the previous owners assistance. I purchased a duplicate and used it for the transfer.
I have 2 build sheets that belong to the car. One was removed from the fuel tank when it was replaced in 1989. The other came from the seats or inner fender. he does not remember. Both clearly show Z28 options and VIN #.
I rebuilt the wheel cylinders. changed the master cylinder. replaced fluids. rebuilt the carb. etc. The Z28 is now running and driving perfectly. The transmission and clutch work properly. The brakes and suspension work properly. The car is ready to drive anywhere.
The engine still has 11:1 forged pistons and is +. 030. The pistons are "loose" and you can here them rattle. at idle only. The engine runs and performs as it should with no smoking or odd noises.
Z28 is registered. insured and driven regularly.
This is an excellent survivor car that can be used as a daily driver.
I am not representing it as a 100 point restored car. The car does have all of the original components listed. described and pictured. These are the parts the car was born with.
The engine is not re-stamped. It appears the factory made an error when stamping the block and "corrected" by stamping VIN a second time. Upon close inspection. you will notice the last digit varies.
