1960 Austin Healey Sprite for sale

Now at age 79, after many years of restoring and driving old race cars, we have sold 2 of our shop locations, and many of our cars,and are now beginning to liquidate the remaining 13,000 sq feet of cars and parts 

I have two Sprite engines shown here, and you are bidding for the ONE of your choice.

The First engine pictured is the .040 over 948 engine from my Series One Lotus Seven that I recently sold. It is the ex Karl Flessa built race engine, and has numerous modifications including Hepolite cast pistons,all machined , lightened, and balanced, …..British Masters rods,... ISKY pushrods and lifters, and an AE648 camshaft. The cam has two additional bearings added to the block.. Std/Std steel billet crank and strapped center maincap.. 12g206 head is ported and polished and milled .130. … a 12 pound 6oz lightened flywheel ...MGB Oil COOLER and spin-on oil filter.... PERTONIX, pointless ignition and Pertonix coil,... high lift alloy rocker cover is dual vented to carb air filters to reduce crankcase pressure. ...NEW filters are on onder. ... Carb pistons are currently being modified for better flow.

This engine was frequently used in the Lotus 7 on the street where it performed nicely with just a bit less spark advance, and was raced in one Vintage race event. It has a great power band from 3500 to 7000 and ran a 7500 rpm redline..it idles nicely, is not finicky, and is very streetable. It is complete as shown, including the complete clutch assembly, and carb assembly. The are are no headers, as they were specific to the Lotus 7 and went with the car.

The engine was again run on the test stand before the carb mods were begun, and it will be run again after they are completed , so it sells ready to install , other than the headers. No fan was used, but if you do not have electric radiator fan, we will include OEM fan blades..

The second engine is a very low mileage 1098 engine that we are in the process of rebuilding.

It is supplied with a JUDSON SUPERCHARGER,

Having owned Judson Blown Sprites since my fist new one in 1960, I know the effect of having a useable psi boost, and also recognize the limits of the Judson to produce that on larger cc engines of 1098 and 1275, so we have specifically worked out a custom Blower Drive Ratio with the Judson Guru. The custom drive pulley diameter is intended to produce the most useable power from 2500 to 5000 for the most benefit on the street, giving excellent boos and Torque, without having to over-rev the engine,

The 12G295 head should be back from the machine shop about the middle of the month, and as soon as we order the new camshaft this engine will be completed., with Pertronix, Pertonix Coil, and lightened flywheel, and run-in on the test stand so it is 'ready to install”...........  Lightened flywheel,  10 pounds 14 ox,  adds additional quickness to this Torquey engine package.

Expect the engine to be completed about the end of Jan- Feb.
