SELLER REMARKS

This 1960 Chevrolet Nomad presents a curious case. On the one hand. it's one of the most beautiful wagons ever designed. On the other. it's a wonderful resto-mod with a 383 inch stroker motor. overdrive transmission. and an Air Ride suspension. all making it a superlative long-distance cruiser. And yes. we are displaying it with both sets of wheels and tires so you can see just how radically it can change personality in less than 30 minutes.

The odometer shows 25. 20 and the title says it's authentic. but that didn't stop some very talented guys from making this one of the most incredible resto-mods we've ever seen. The color is Ermine White. the same code 936A found on the cowl tag. so it looks quite authentic. As a low-mile car that had lived a very good life. minimal bodywork was required and it goes without saying that the work is off-the-charts nice. Panel gaps are good. the paint was rubbed and buffed to a brilliant shine. and it's unlikely that you'll see another one of these anywhere you go. There's obviously a lot of trim. all of which is fantastic. from the almost delicate bumpers to the cool rocket-shaped side trim. and "gullwing" rear quarters that were a little tamer than 1959 but still distinctively Chevrolet. All the original glass is excellent. and you'll want to take care of it. because those wagon windows are completely irreplaceable.

The turquoise interior is truly spectacular and offers proof that this is a low-mileage car. Covered by plastic for years. it is preserved the same way your grandmother's couch was immaculately frozen in time. A beautiful dashboard full of bright trim and nicely finished gauges and an under-dash A/C unit that's been there since it was new makes it a delight to drive. The column-mounted shifter has been cleverly modified to control four gears instead of three and the Air Ride suspension offers fingertip control of the ride height on a custom panel just to the left of the steering column. An AM/FM stereo radio was stashed in the center of the dash to augment the car's already impressive long-distance cruising abilities. and it'll carry anything you care to take with you thanks to the massive cargo bay. which is also beautifully preserved.

OK. so it's beautiful and the interior is amazing. but the drivetrain is built for long-distance cruising. The engine is a 383 cubic inch crate motor bolted to a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. With about 4000 miles on the build. it's been tested and proven. and delivers a lot more punch and efficiency than the original 283. A new billet accessory drive powers the A/C (all-new components with R134a refrigerant) and it now carries power disc brakes and beefy sway bars in addition to the aforementioned Air Ride setup. A mellow dual exhaust system sounds exactly right for this vintage wagon and as we said. there are two full sets of wheels and tires to suit your mood: 18s and 20s for when you want a resto-mod look. plus the original steel wheels with wide whites for pure stock cool factor.

Formerly owned by Mike Helton. president of NASCAR. this gorgeous Chevy wagon is every bit as amazing as it looks and truly delivers on the promise of no-compromises motoring. Call today!
