SUPER RARE COLOR COMBINATION - GORGEOUS - Completely original Mercedes-Benz 380SL - no paintwork, no accidents, no rust or restoration of any kind - Absolutely stunning in person - Metal is completely straight, not a wave or even a door ding - and the gloss, particularly after 40 years is even more remarkable.  Special factory-ordered black opal metallic exterior over claret; matching hard top with a black fold-away soft top (perfectly preserved, no cracks, rips or discoloration).  Strong, smooth and bulletproof V-8; 1985 was the final and only year fitting the 380 with steel dual-timing chains - she's smooth as silk on the highways.  Carpeting throughout the entire car appears untouched by time or hands. Doors shut securely with that unmistakable, classic Mercedes, over-engineered bank vault thud - incredible to think it's a convertible and not a sedan by the tightness of it all - a solid and sultry testament to what Stuttgart used to build - the likes of which we'll sadly never see again.  Whether you're searching for a highlight to house with your already beautiful auto collection, or simply wanting to decamp, top down, to Sun Valley in class, these are rolling pieces of motorized art that will just continue to sky rocket in value.2,700 miles per year average traveled - she was owned by an elderly woman in Salt Lake for the last twenty years - from what I was told this beauty was never driven in inclement weather or winter months, and it shows - this was her baby, that's for certain.  The seats do show some light wear (quoted $2k to replace them with MB Tex if, so inclined) and the dash has some light cracking (quoted $700 to fill and blend) but I chose to do neither, it's entirely original and the light patina adds to the story IMO, the next enthusiast can decide what direction they'll sway. The mechanics and the upholsterers were blown away - they'd never seen one so clean, original and beautiful, and working so flawlessly to boot - they even recommended I leave everything original. She's been fully serviced by our trusted family MB Tech, including all new tires, and some suspension refreshments; AC blows ice cold and the heater keeps you nice and toasty (another surprise to the mechanic, he really was blown away by the condition, the color and the mechanical condition of it all) - she's set for another 40 years (long after the current bland, mass-produced, pieces of plastic on wheels will have been sent to their graves).  Own a legend, and not of the standard selection of colors one typically sees with these cars (cream, red, silver, blue and on and on) - but one that truly stands out - the color is just bloody elegant on this shape - a head turning reflection of black, blue, grey and purple metallic (depending on the time of day), that appears dripping wet - I can't count the comments I've received with my short and privileged summer with her..
