MERCEDES W201 190E 2.3-16V EVOLUTION 2 REPLICA

With a heavy heart it is time to sell this.

She has been parked now for many years since taking it off the road and hence will want recommissioning/restoration.

I'd say this was the first Evo 2 replica built in the UK back in 2007/8. Evo 2 kits were rare back then.

Massive amount of time and work was invested into it including all the body modifications to allow the fitting of the kit, full respray in its original 199 Blue Black metallic.

The car is a 1987 2.3-16V with only 68k on a replacement engine which was fitted back in the early 2000's. The clocks were replaced, to reflect the correct mileage for the engine. I'm in no way selling claiming that the car as a whole has only done that mileage, as it has obviously done more miles than that.

Has a lot of history included in the history folder, with paperwork going right back to the very early 1990's. Has every old MOT certificate, original owners manual pack.

5 speed Getrag manual dogleg gearbox.

The wheels are genuine full width 8.25 x 17 Evo 2 wheels which are like new.

Has a much sought after Remus silencer.

The interior has full 16v black leather seats which are in superb condition with a small bit of colour fade on the drivers bolster. They are electrically adjustable and heated (rare option).

Vent surrounds uncracked!

Have owned this for about 17 years, but decided it wasn't to be used as a daily car, so it has been parked for many years.

It started first turn of the key the other day, after replacing the oil, new fuel, new fuel filter and fuel pump, and new battery. Mechanically she still seems to be in fine fettle.

Before being parked away, it drove as you'd expect from a 2.3-16v, very willing in the higher rev band. So much fun and always performed without fault. Never driven stupidly.

But, having been parked away for so many years, she will require work to restore to former glories.

The paintwork is overall still in fantastic condition, but some of the kit will require new paint.

There is corrosion on the o/s rear quarter, where they all fail at some point. A simple repair for someone who can weld.

A small scab on the rear n/s upper roof rail.

Jacking points underside will probably want re doing.

I would say that after so many years, the suspension components would want replacing as the rubber components would have aged.

Front inner arches show signs of corrosion.

Headlight reflectors want replacing, which I should be able to supply if required.

I can supply cuts of any replacement sections that are required if you require them.

The door cards have lifted as usual.

Those are some of the main issues that require attention, but you are buying understanding that it wants restoring. It isn't being sold as wanting just a couple of fixes. Don't get me wrong, to someone who can weld, sort bodywork etc, or knows someone who can, then this should be a good restore. She's not perfect anymore, but if she was, I would be asking for 35,000-40,000!

Fix her up and you have a highly sought after and valuable motor.

This isn't one of your cheap replicas with a 2 litre engine and cloth interior.

Those who know the Evo 2, know that the engines, although a 2.5-16, were far more akin to the 2.3-16 in terms of sportyness and pure revability.

This is an honest sale, where work commitments and the fact im not getting any younger, mean I don't have time to bring her back to how she should be and I can no longer just see it parked, so it's time, and I have spent a long time debating this, to put it up for sale.

Never written off and has a clean hpi history check.

IMPORTANT - The private reg plate, I want to keep, but it needs an MOT and tax for me to be able to remove the plate. So because of this, there would be a written agreement that once the car is mot'd and taxed, that I have the right to remove the plate and it will revert to its original registration. I am willing to forego this if an arrangement is made in regards to the plate.

I'm hoping it will go to someone who will bring her back to former glory and treasure it.

If I don't sell it now, I never will, so this is the only chance if you want it. I won't be relisting it, or letting it go for nothing.

Timewasters and chancers won't be accepted, neither will low offers.

The reserve is set at a sensible value but will not be disclosed.

Viewings by request.

Buyer will need to have the car collected. We can arrange delivery.
