A fantastic powerplant legendary among Ford trucks and the most sought after during this era. 1986 marked the last year of the "Bullnose 1980-86" body style; also marking the first year for the stronger Sterling 10.25 rear axle which Ford used for 3 more generations of heavy duty F-series trucks both in the F250s and F350s until the 2000s. Combine this with the Dana 50 front axle and 4.10 gears with limited slip not to mention the large sway bars front and rear, this truck is more than capable for heavy duty Truck use. As the years pass, vehicles on the road get recycled due to new vehicles, accidents, natural disasters, or just getting too old to operate. The highest turnover happens with trucks making the older survivors increasingly limited. The Bullnose body style has dramatically appreciated in value and desirability in recent years with some examples exceeding 6 figures. The Bullnose years marks several "first" in Fords best selling vehicle of all time. An effort was made to modernize trucks; more convivence options were available, it was the first time a big block 460 was available in 4x4 models from the factory, first time a diesel was available from the factory, first time the iconic FORD Blue Oval emblem was seen on the grill of a truck, first to see fuel injection first ground up redesign of a Ford since 1965.Cosmetically this truck is in great shape with no signs of abuse over the last 35 years. What you see is what you get, there's no hidden surprises. The body is straight and free of any rust corrosion. The underneath floors and rockers are in exceptional condition free of rust. The truck was originally blue refinished in white which looks great on a Bullnose flatbed. The paint looks good but does have some imperfections. The Stake side flatbed looks great is made with high quality steel and hardwood with a built in steel headache rack and steel trailer hitch receiver. The wood is in great shape, strong, and hasn't spent extended time in the elements. 16 inch white steel wheels wrapped in brand new 235/85 Mud Terrain tires complete the look. Step inside the rig into an interior that is in good original shape. 1980-1986 Ford truck interiors have a notorious reputation for self destruction. The fact that this truck is complete and in this shape is a good indicator this truck was not abused. The door panels are in great shape. The seat is comfortable with no rips or tears. The Original Vinyl floor is in fair shape showing some wear on the drivers side by the pedals but otherwise complete and vibrant. The dash is in great shape with no damage and complete. The original AM/FM Ford radio has not been hacked away and is still functional. All the gauges are functional. A push button start ignition was installed for security, and works great in tandem with the original ignition. The does still have a control lever for a fertilizer gun still installed next to the 4x4 shifter. All of the lights are functional.Mechanically this truck essentially has the best Ford could offer in 1986. The 460 v8 is healthy, fires on the first kick and runs great. The truck does have an aftermarket exhaust with dual side exit giving the 460 a proper growl and rumble. SEE WALKAROUND "VIDEO" The C6 transmission shifts smooth in all gears and reverse.
