1965 Ford Mustang

1965 Mustang Convertible listed at No Reserve, V8 automatic car with low options, manual steering and brakes, but drives nice and easy despite that, I bought it from the long term owner that had it since the early nineties, she took great care of it. It had an amateur restoration before she bought it and it has been stored in a garage and maintained by a mechanic. It has not been driven in the winter since then, but it has always been a midwestern car. I will describe condition in detail below. Priced with a realistic opening bid and no reserve. Please ask all questions before bidding, I am happy to do a Face Time walk around during the auction. Body and paint condition are fair to good, the car was restored around 1990 and looks great from 20' even now. But the work that was done was typical of the time and is showing it's age in spots. The paint is still very shiny, but there is bubbling in the corners of the doors. The rear quarters had partial replacement and if you look inside the trunk you can see the flanges where they were welded. The trunk and floors are solid but the floor has been patched in the front, still holding up well but you can tell from underneath. At least one of the torque boxes has rust issues, the rear frame rails are solid. The front rails have some soft spots but appear to be structurally sound. The front fenders, hood, and trunk lid are all nice, straight, and rust free. The trim including bumpers, grill, taillights, and rocker moldings are nice. The driver's door mirror is missing, and I removed the front fender emblems because they had been mounted slightly off from there they should be. I felt it looked better without them. I have the original wheels and hubcaps and they are included as well as the American Racing Torq Thrusts and the (new this year) tires currently on the car, shown in the pics. Interior condition is good overall, the seats were recovered with Pony interior style covers. One or two small rips in the seats, door panels are nice, needs fresh carpet and a driver's side arm rest. The dash and steering wheel are nice, power tops works well, aftermarket am/fm radio works, as do the wipers, lights, turn signals. The top and rear window are in good condition except for the one small tear shown in the pic. Mechanicals are good, transmission was rebuilt recently, and it runs good. I believe the engine is not the original based on the intake manifold casting number, which suggests it is a 1968 302. It can sit in the garage for a month, pump the gas, and it fires right up. I trust the car enough mechanically that my wife drives it, and I never worry about it letting us down. Suspension and brakes are fine, the tires are new. It does not have power steering, however, it is the easiest manual steering classic car I have driven. The exhaust is old, I noted an exhaust leak near the muffler by the rear axle, I suggest replacing it soon. It also has what looks like a minor drip at the rear pinion seal on the axle. that said, I trust the car completely to drive locally and even on several hour trips. I have a lift in my garage and can get more pics with a bit of notice. Please make sure your finances are in order before bidding.
