This classic Ford 10 CX De Luxe is in remarkable condition for a car that is 77 years old.

This is most likely due to the fact that it has only had four owners in it's long life.

It was bought new in 1936 by a well repected businessman. an ironmonger from Pocklington. just to the east of York. The third owner was a child of six at the time who grew up in Pocklington and remembers the car from new. Early in the car's life. the ironmonger. Mr Eric Buttle. while out driving. hit a dog on the road which broke the front number plate. This number plate was repaired and is still on the car today.

If away from home and encountering heavy rain. Mr Buttle was known to find shelter for the car and make his way home by bus. collecting it later when the weather was better.

Mr Buttle treasured this car and owned it for 53 years until 1989 when it was acquired by Mr Bob Wilkinson. the Secretary of the Ford Y & C Model Register who kept the car for nine years.

Another member of the club. the South Yorkshire Regional Contact. Mr Ken Sleight. recognised the car as the same car he knew in his childhood and so when Mr Wilkinson decided to sell it. Mr Sleight bought it to add to his collection. At this time the car had only covered 56000 miles.

The car was then brought up to the standard we see today. It had a full engine rebuild. a new headlining and the paintwork refreshed along with numerous other smaller tasks. Modern indicators were fitted to the bumper brackets to improve safety but these could easily be removed if required.

Since then it has appeared twice at the Birmingham Classic Car Show and has been used to tour the country and Ireland without major problem.

We acquired it from this third owner in the summer of 2012 and we sold it to an enthusiast in North Wales who has covered 1501 trouble free miles in the past 14 months going to various shows and taking part in club runs. This enthusiast has now bought an open top classic sports car and we were happy to take this Ford back onto stock as genuine cars like this are very difficult to find. During his ownership he has fitted a set of four new tyres and a new battery. It has now covered a genuine 71594 miles.

Although the car is now MOT exempt as it was manufactured prior to 1960. it has an MOT until December 2014 and the Free Historic Road Tax until the end of December 2013 is on the windscreen.

The history file contains numerous old MOT certificates and a collection of invoices detailing the work completed over the past 15 years. The file also contains an original buff logbook showing Mr Buttle's ownership details and a previous V5 showing the second and third owners.

The car still retains it's original valuable transferable registration number VY8085 and this is included in the selling price. We hope that the buyer retains the number on the car as to remove it would be a sacrilege.

This car needs to be seen in person to appreciate how good it is.
