TIME-WARP VINTAGE AUSTIN SEVEN 'TOP HAT' SALOON
OFFERED FOR SALE FOR ONLY THE 2nd TIME SINCE 1966!

This is an extraordinarily preserved example of the coveted vintage 'Top Hat' saloon. Discovered by Austin Seven sleuth. Christopher Oliver in 2007. after being laid up in the 1960s. this true 'Vintage' 1929 Seven was found to be virtually intact and original throughout and. importantly. retaining its original engine.

Initially entrusted to the late David Hutcheson for a programme of conservation and recommissioning. he task was eventually handed over to Austin Seven artisan Oliver Way due to David's terminal illness - along with David's full blessing. In true Oliver Way fashion. the project was respectfully taken-on and this 'time-warp' was gently and expertly brought back to life.

Wheels were rebuilt by MWS and shod with new Blockley tyres. Engine and gearbox were overhauled under Oliver's supervision and the braking. suspension and steering system rebuilt. New seals and bushes and bearings were fitted to the rear axle. The car was rewired throughout with correct pattern materials. Oliver's keen eye for detail corrected any minor defects and the car was MOT'd. The car's history file is extensive and needs to be viewed as it documents all the work carried out to date.

After road testing. the car was entrusted to Alex Myall of Pigsty Racing for a subtle twin fiction damper conversion. Soon after this final stage was carried out. the car was requested for display at the Goodwood Revival in 2011. Sitting alongside a restored example of the Top Hat saloon. all the detail discrepancies on the restored car were soon exposed!

This car has always been MOT tested and will be sold with a fresh MOT - irrespective of the bonkers legislation relinquishing owners of the responsibility of maintaining classic cars to a judged safe standard of this now moral obligation. As you can see. the car still carries its original registration number. It retains a buff logbook and has a current V5C. A comprehensive history file detailing all the above work will accompany the car.
Naturally this extraordinary Seven is VSCC eligible.

Remarkably. this 'time-warp' is offered for sale for only the 2nd time since 1966!

So if you are looking for a concours car. nbsp; this 'Shabby Chic' example may not suit you.

However. if you are looking for a car that exudes charm and character - this is it!
