This 1982 Corvette was manufactured on January 27, 1982 and purchased from Don Steves Chevrolet in La Habra, CA a few weeks later. Loaded with nearly every option available from the factory and highly documented since originally purchased, this Corvette has been garage kept in the Southwestern United States since new. Pampered and respected for nearly forty years, this cream puff drives like the time capsule she remains! Please call us with any questions: (949) 629-8888.
EXTERIOR The very straight no-hit exterior body presents brand new “custom” (rare factory optioned) two-tone, two-stage paint with a new reproduction decal striping kit; for which compliments abound turning heads everywhere we take her! The original paint was in fair condition but the original owner waxed and polished the car so much that the original finish was starting to get thin in a few places and as with most original paint cars: the polyurethane bumpers wear a shade of factory paint slightly lighter than the fiberglass body. Thus, we removed all exterior trim before the re-spray and reassembled with all original hardware (which was easy but for the car's life being spent entirely in the Southwestern U.S.) Of course, all of the body panels still have their original bonding strips and no repairs or cracks are evident. The headlights pop up and down well, all of the exterior brake lights and turn signals work as do the wipers. All of the factory weatherstrip remains soft to the touch. The doors open and close well. All of the original glass remains in place, isn't scratched up (not striated), and the power window motors work very well! The raised white letter radials have a good amount of meat mounted onto the optioned and highly polished factory optioned slotted aluminum wheels. Even the spare tire courtesy light remains functional and the original spare tire looks never to have been on the ground! The spare tire tub looks great too bc no one has ever put a jack underneath it!
INTERIORThe factory interior looks like the all original low miles car it is. The seats, door panels, carpet, dash and headliners show no rips or tears. (Minus some creases/ couple of wear marks on the seat cushions.) The power windows and power door locks still work like new and the original armrests are not broken (as so many of them are.) The steering column is nice and tight and both the steering wheel as well the brake pedal show very little to no noticeable wear. All of the gauges work and still look like new; the silver striping around the bezel and shift plate has held up well as you can see in the pictures (with a couple of otherwise unnoticeable touch-ups on the shift plate.). The original tape-deck stereo sounds great with a new power antenna, the speakers could be upgraded but are original and sound ok. The cruise works great as does the horn. The original jack and handle remain underneath the rear compartment tray.
MECHANICALS The motor compartment is super original and looks great with its “numbers matching” drive train to which significant maintenance has been performed. As original rubber valve stem seals leak after several years and use oil (even on low miles cars), we had a valve job performed to the heads. At that time, the car received a complete tune-up including all new wires, plugs, cap, rotor, belts, hoses, filters, valve cover gaskets and complete fluids change. (The shop forgot to re-install the plastic distributor cover but it's included.) The car also brakes great with four rebuilt brake calipers including new pads now again stopping the car with ease. The A/C system has been retrofitted for R-134 but could be topped off to blow ice-cold again! (the heater as well both front and rear defrosters work too.) Please note: these 350 Cubic Inch motors have plenty of get up and go. However, starting in 1972, Chevrolet horsepower specs were re-calculated from "gross horsepower" to "net horsepower." Previously, horsepower was measured on a blueprinted engine without the accessories: i.e. alternator, A/C, P/S etc. Combined with detuning from the factory to meet emission's standards compliance, these Corvettes get an undeserved bad horsepower rap but remain spry. Regardless, the drive-train is spirited and will put you back in your seat. Please feel free to call us with any questions: (949) 629-8888. I can help arrange shipping anywhere in the lower 48 States for less than $1500 or anywhere in the world for that matter. Please enjoy the below pictures and details about this classic 1982 Corvette!
