The car is tired, it runs, but not very well. I have driven it a few times PER WEEK (that's not a few times a year), I have a 57 Chevy convertible that gets driven once a year and it is not as fun as this car. I have been driving it for 4+ years, It needs work and if I do the work it will be to street rod it. I have too many other cars to give this one the time it needs. So I am offering it to you guys that want the few cars that remain that are original. I may be help with shipping, since I have connections in the trucking business. The seats and door panels and carpet have been redone, the headliner has not and it is ripped. It has a Dubeney front suspension. (commonly called “steering knuckle”) which means there is no front “A” frames or left springs, i think it was introduced in 1935, 1938 was the last year for them and most 38's have A frames which makes this an early 38, it rides real smooth, but there are not parts for them. It can be rebuilt by chevs of the 40's in Washington state, the price was $800 about 18 months ago. One side of this Dubenay needs a bushing. (the other side is fine) It has needed it the entire time I have owned it. It wants to pull to one side, so just keep steady pressure on the other side and it drives fine. They also have the overhaul kits for the engine. the water pump can not be bought either but it can be rebuilt it cost $200 bucks and this one is new. The vacuum wiper works every now and then, and about a year ago the speedometer in the dash stopped working. (the cable is still trying to turn the speedometer head) all other gauges work. the dash lights are still 6 volt (as far as I know) I have never touched them but they do not work. The runner boards are new after market smoothies but I added the rubber cover to give it a more original look. For drum brakes it will stand you on your nose. The only thing I did not replace when I bought the car in the brake system was the long metal line from the front to the rear. From chevs of the 40 new master, new shoes, new springs, new cylinders, new rubber flex lines. The glass has the patina look I did not want to fix, the windows rollup and down fine so does the vent windows. The floors are 100 percent original with no rust, yeah you read that right. This car set in a barn in Anderson South Carolina many years that is why the guys who found it did not repaint the whole car. They overhauled the carburetor gave it a tune up sold it to a dealer whom I got it from. The tires are not cheap fake white walls, but the real deal. (for you guys that really know your originals, yes the tires are 1,5 inch oversize they are truck size,) but man they do look good. The headlight system is a new style with the reverse insert mounted bulb. The leans is the gorgeous original. The turn signals are inside the headlight with an orange cover on a white bulb. I have taken it to Biloxi Ms. 600 mile each way Somerset Ky. 320 miles each way and I drive the wheels off locally. So if you are looking for a very nice body to build a street rod this is it, if you are looking for a "time machine" this is it. Selling it is not about money it is about time management. I have had fun with the car I have others to have fun with that need my time. There is no deadline on pickup it can set here as long as you need, I have lots of room.
