1965 was the first year the Ford Motor Company offered the fastback model on the mustang. Offered here, is an original 1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2 built in March of 1965. This vehicle was built at the Metuchen, NJ plant, sold in New Jersey and has remained in New Jersey for its entire life until it was moved to New York in 2019. The vehicle has otherwise been garaged and climate control kept since the 1980's. This car is completely original except for minor cosmetic details, exterior paint and most of the interior. Despite being a New Jersey car for most of its life, it does not have any rust or body filler, body corrections were done by cutting out imperfections and welding new material to the vehicle. Additional repairs were done with period-correct methods where applicable. Car is in immaculate mechanical condition and in excellent paint/interior condition. This is as turn-key car as you will get, starts right up cold or hot in all conditions. Runs and drives flawlessly and is as straight as an arrow while remaining tight on the highway.

The 289ci V-8 American Muscle powerplant is original to the vehicle and has about 12,000 miles on it since rebuild – This is a C-Code 289ci V-8 engine upgraded with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold

The original 3-Speed “3.03” Toploader has also been rebuilt with the engine and operates smoothly in the car

The rear end is also the original 2.80:1 Standard Differential

Original color was Prairie Bronze with the black-on-black vinyl and trim

The color of the mustang was converted to a pearlescent Wimbledon white with painted pearlescent blue racing stripes to resemble the'65 GT-350 paint scheme. The engine was dressed up to appear as a GT-350 by bolt-on modifications such as engine air filter and valve covers; remaining components are original to the vehicle such as the block and oil pan. The cooling system is original and function properly without overheating the car. Alternator was replaced about 300 miles ago from the original '65 alternator; along with battery. This car houses its original drum brakes all around which work perfectly. During the restoration, new spark plugs, wires and distributor have also been installed along with new fuel lines and new gas tank. Interior was restored completely with the exception of glove box, dashboard gauge cluster and seat hardware. New blue seats, blue carpet, and white headliner was added along with the dashboard repainted and minor white/blue trim pieces replaced. In addition to the interior, the original cooling/heating fan work and an aftermarket AM/FM radio was installed. Exterior paint is in excellent condition, chrome is not chipped or rusted; glass is also in excellent condition. Body work was done by a professional body shop while mechanical work was majorly done by myself. Exhaust headers were changed for dual long tube headers and modified to allow for 2 ½ inch dual side exhaust. American Racing wheels are paired with BF Goodrich T/A radial tires with raised white letters; tread is in good condition. The only inoperable piece is the speedometer and odometer, this is due to a failure at the speedometer drive gear within the transmission tail-housing; tachometer, original temperature gauge, aftermarket temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge are all operational and accurate .Odometer and speedometer failed during a trip to Vermont and all miles since then have been properly recorded for accuracy.
