1957 Chevy 150 Sedan DeliveryVIN D57K124820I am selling my 1957 Sedan Delivery. I purchased the unrestored car in 2003 for a relative who was looking for a car to advertise his coffee business. Over the next two years the car underwent a frame off restoration. Every part of the car was replaced, repaired or restored. The car was sent to him but like every relic it required ongoing maintenance which was frustrating for him. For that reason it was placed in secure storage in the Pacific Northwest in 2004. It was not driven until I purchased it from him this past spring. It had sat for almost 17 years. Other than a layer of dust, it was in excellent condition. The gas tank was drained prior to storage. I drained the oil and changed the filter. The cylinders were lubed with Marvel Mystery oil and after a few days the engine was turned by hand. It was not stuck. New plugs were installed. Gas was added. It was cranked with the plugs out until oil pressure was normal. Plugs were replaced and it fired right up. The brakes were flushed and bled. The rotors were cleaned with a scotchbrite. Collector gaskets were replaced. It has headers and there is still an exhaust leak. The automatic transmission had leaked and it was topped off. It was greased. The coolant was changed. It starts and it runs well but I have driven it just a few miles. I have too many projects and have decided to sell. BodyThe body is straight. The car came from Colorado. No body panels were replaced by the restorer I used. All were in good shape. It was taken down and primed and painted with a base/clear using Adobe Beige which was a factory color. The paint is not perfect but it has held up well with a nice shine. I have not buffed it. There is a small scuff on the lower right front fender. The doors close well. The door seals used during the restoration need to be replaced with a higher quality product. The bumpers and chrome pieces were replaced. They are nice but not concours. The side spears were professionally restored and are very nice. The car will hold a thin plastic coated magnet on all panels. The glass is good with the exception of the passenger door window which has a small chip on the top. The rear hatch torsion bars have been removed and a prop has been fitted as seen in the photos. It does not have the sedan delivery specific struts. I understand there is a company that makes gas struts that will fit. Interior The front and rear seats are out of an Eddie Bauer Edition Ford Explorer. They are electric and they do work. The original gauges were professionally  restored to stock spec. The odometer prior to restoration showed 50,755 miles. When restored, it was reset to zero. The exact miles are unknown. It has been driven 1590 miles since the restoration. Carpet was replaced and there are a few stains. The floor mats look new. There are additional gauges including a tach mounted under the dash. The headliner is new. The door and side panels are painted masonite and they have held up well.Engine and drive lineThe 350ci/330HP crate engine was purchased new from GM. The data plate… #12496968, std bore, std main, thrust width std, std rod bearings, 07/18/2003. Serial # 15021519 SC7684. It has less than 1600 total miles. Oil pressure is good. The car does not overheat. The fan does have some clearance issues and rubs at high rpms. That has not been addressed. The carb is a Holley 4bbl. As mentioned, it has headers. They have been tighted but there is still a leak. The collector gasket were replaced with Remflex type and they are tight. It does have dual exhausts. I don't remember the type of mufflers fitted but it has a nice sound. It has an electric fuel pump. The transmission is a 700R4 with a B&H shifter. It does shift through all gears. I don't care for automatics so I don't know what to expect but the short shift handle is stiff. If the car sits it will leak some fluid. I don't remember the gear ratio of the rear end. It was professionally set up and the seals were replaced. I would note that after sitting and if it doesn't fire immediately it will not turn over. After sitting for a few minutes it will fire right up. It has a new battery. The starter was replaced in 2003. I have not sorted this. It may be a relay. BrakesA dual master cylinder was fitted when it was restored. Also disc brakes were installed up front. It has drum brakes on the rear. As mentioned, the system  was flushed and bled. Suspension The tie rods and ball joints were replaced. The right corner sits a little low. The coil springs were not replaced. They may need attention. There is a lot of play in the steering wheel. The steering box was not rebuilt and that will need some attention. The rear leaf springs were not arched so it sits low in the rear. I think that will need to be dealt with at some point. The Michelin tires have 1600 miles but the are almost 20 years old. The spare has not been on the ground and is the same steel Coker wheels that are on the car. The full-size tire will not fit in the rear storage so a space saver has been fitted, I'm sure I've missed something. It had a frame off restoration and sat for almost 17 years. I'm sure that time in hibernation did not do it any good. It has some needs described above but the heavy lifting has been done. It is a solid car. The firewall tag was lost during the restoration. The VIN tag is original and unaltered. The total cost of the car purchase and restoration in 2003 was just over $40,000. I don't like to sell anything especially cars. I will do the best I can with photos that are accurate. I want the buyer to be informed and have as few surprises as possible. The title is clear and in my name. Please ask any question. Ideally the future buyer should inspect the car before purchase. I live one hour from Kansas City International airport. The car is sold “as is/where is” without warranty. I will assure that the buyer will have more information about the car than I was told prior to my purchase. I have taken over a hundred photos that can be viewed on Photo Bucket. I can take more if needed. The link will be sent if requested. I will not ship and that will be up to the buyer. A deposit managed by ebay of $500.00 will be required within 24 hours. Balance of payment Thank you for your interest. Reply  Reply All  Forward
