I have decided selling my 56 BelAir to the highest bidder. I will do my best to accurately and thoroughly describe it. Please read the description completely and ask as many questions as you want.I bough this car with the intention of doing a restomod, after going through the car and seeing how nice and unmolested it is and also realizing I have no time to do this anymore, I want to give someone the chance to turn it into a nice resto mod or a full factory spec restoration, or maybe drive it as is for years to come. The car is a great candidate for either and it will not take a lot either route you go. Or you can just drive it and enjoy it as it sits. The car is very reliable and can be driven anywhere, it starts, stops, and turns as it should. It sounds awesome, and it looks really good. I believe I am the 3rd owner to the car based on what I was told when I bough it and in the general condition of the car. The car was titled last in 1976, and was parked in dry storage shortly after that until I bought it from the state sale of the owner on title since that time. The car has 84991 miles, which I believe are accurate. The car is all numbers matching and all original, very unmolested and in excellent condition. VIN number: VC56S147532, Engine code and serial number: 05I7028F56, body tag plate: Style No 56-10370 Body No: S9282 Trim No: 581 Paint No 707D-EZIBODY:
Body is extremely solid and, besides surface rust, almost rust free. The body is straight as an arrow and shows little to no rust. All the gaps are correct or very close to it. The underside shows mostly surface rust all over with a couple of hardly noticeable small rust-though spots. The only repair I can see on the whole body of the car is a small patch to the front passenger side floor board. The frame and suspension parts have minor surface rust and are all original to the car. All the stainless steel trim pieces are original, there and in mint condition, no dings or scratches anywhere. All the chrome pieces are also there, there is light pitting on most of them including the bumpers. All the glass is there, original and not a single crack. Car is EZ optioned from factory (OEM tinted glass). The windshield is staring to separate in two spots. All windows work easily and as intended. There are several missing weather stripping pieces as well as window channels, some will need replacing as expected in a car this old.PAINT:The paint is still good and shiny but has several chips and has been touched up in several places throughout the years. I would call it in nice driver condition. If I end up keeping it, I would drive it as is, it looks pretty cool and original. I was told the paint was re-done in the late 60's, it looks like at that time they used lacquer and did some light bodywork.INTERIOR:Upholstery is all original and there including all trim and stainless pieces. The seats were covered using black vinyl covers from the 60's. I've decided not to remove them so the next owner can decide what route to go. There is a tear on the back seat's cover on the back rest and the original material can be seen in good condition. The door side panels were removed when the car was parked 45 years ago and never installed again. The card board behind the upholstery has crumbled and they will need to be replaced. The carped needs to be replaced. The head liner and sun visors are original, in excellent condition-no tears or holes-and just need light cleaning. The dash is in excellent condition, all trim pieces are there. All the gauges are original and work as intended. The horns are factory original and work as intended. The windshield wipers work as intended. Every single light and lens is original and work as intended, some lenses are showing some age related cracks. The radio and the clock do not work. The heater controls do not work. DRIVETRAIN:Car runs and drives as it should, starts right up, no knocks or noises, sounds great and runs like a top, very reliable. I would drive it as is anywhere without hesitation. I bought the car as a non running vehicle, replaced the spark plugs, put a battery, poured some gas down the carb and it fired right up! Since then I have rebuild the carburetor to factory specs, replaced every single rubber hose/clips in the engine bay with NOS or correct restoration parts (radiator hoses, heater hoses and power brake unit hoses). Cooling system was flushed, cleaned and fresh antifreeze added. I have changed oil and oil filter twice with correct oil and filters. The car has a new mechanical fuel pump (probably the only non original/stock part on the drivetrain), it came with a late 60's electric fuel pump that was still working but that I did not like-so I replaced it. I also put a new front to back 3/8 fuel line, new sending unit and cleaned/painted gas tank. I replaced all brake cylinders and hoses with new correct restoration parts, all lines were flushed and cleaned, the brake shoes and hardware were correct and in like new condition. I also rebuilt the Bendix Threadle Valve unit to factory specs. I have also replaced all 4 shocks. I replaced the rotted factory exhaust system with a full header back 2 1/2 inch stainless steel system from PYPES, with their new Turbo Pro mufflers and X pipe option that sounds amazing. The wheels, hub caps and tires are in excellent, like new condition. Tires are period correct, BF Goodrich Silvertown tubeless 4Ply Wide White Walls, and have more than 90% thread left. Please look at all pictures in detail, ask all questions you want before you commit to buy this car. I have nothing to hide, I have been on eBay for almost 20 years, bought and sold cars and other items and have 100% positive feedback. Car is located in Edison, NJ 08817.I will take cash, wire transfer or certified bank check. All funds must clear before the car leaves my hands. I will ONLY trade for a 2008+Corvette Z06. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
