For sale,my XJS convertible.

I have owned this car for a little over 4 years and have done less than 300 miles in it, and 100 of those were driving it home! I bought it with a view to correcting a few niggles and as always with these things you just can't stop. I ended up doing way more work than I first intended with a view to making the car useable and reliable, addressing many of the known faults on the V12 XJS along the way. I also bought it as an investment and a quick look at prices shows they have gone up significantly and continue to rise as the E-type is becoming unattainable.

Unfortunately after a lot of work and a lot of money spent I have just fallen out of love with the project with a few things left to complete it. The most obvious problem is an oil leak on the left hand side of the engine. This drips on the exhaust and therefore smokes during running. The exhaust silencers need replacing or repairing and there is a small hole in one of the exhaust manifolds, which I have a purchased but not fitted. Finally the left hand headlamp wiper has snapped.

Thats the bad stuff now the work than has been done.

The fuel system has been stripped and rebuilt and any parts that are needed have been replaced. The fuel lines were replaced as these have been known to fatigue and crack, which could cause an under-bonnet fire. The ignition system has been stripped and replaced with new parts, including dizzy, leads and plugs. The rocker covers were removed and refurbished with new gaskets all over. The car has new air filters, oil filters and fuel filters.

The in-board rear brakes are notoriously difficult to do on these so I have had the rear axle removed, stripped and rebuilt with new bushes, discs and pads.

Significantly the car has undergone some paintwork and rust areas have been professionally addressed by a body shop that works on premium vehicles. The rear arches are a water trap on the XJS, these have been properly repaired and re-painted. There were some small rust patches elsewhere and again these have been done. The front cross member has been replaced and re-painted as this was showing signs of corrosion. Whilst the front of the car was stripped down it was noticed the oil cooler was weeping so this was replaced too.

I have replaced the auxiliary air valve and re-set the throttle bodies, replacing all gaskets along the way. All electrics work fine, including the heated seats and the hood is in excellent condition.
