Austin 16 BS1 (1948)It's been a hard decision to part with my Austin 16 as she has been a great classic. However, this sale will allow me to put other projects back on the road. She was originally registered on 20th May 1948. I have the original registration booklet and subsequent petrol rationing stamps..... This shows the original number plate as being FUS 44. I also have the original service manual. These are increasingly rare vehicles, especially in this type of condition. She is finished in white with black wheel arches. She has also had a white interior, which looks great in any event but especially suited to weddings car use. This is not a kit car but has all the original and authentic running gear, including the 2. 2 4 cylinder engine. The car originated from (and remained in the) Glasgow area throughout its life, originally being an olive green colour before her restoration. The car was past down in the same family for over 40 years before being thought to have been fully restored in c2011. It was taken 'off the road in 1972 (I have the MOT certs) following which it was fully restored in c2012 and has done less than 4, 000 miles since !I really want the number plate to remain with the car as this is authentic and it will, providing the bid exceeds the reserve. The number plate alone is valued at c£3k by DVLA.There is no requirement to have these old ladies of the road MOT'd but I have always wanted piece of mind that they are roadworthy so I have past MOTs. I also have various other documentation from the previous owner (including a letter from the former owners daughter stating that the car had travelled to the mediterranean in 1956 - wow) so the pedigree is assured. The car really is in great condition but as with all old cars, there will always be points that need attention so I will seek to be as honest as I can on several points that I would want to be aware of as a buyer: There is a need to touch up the paintwork on the bottom of the boot (where it has been catching on the lower panel when opened);Otherwise, she is in excellent condition and fully roadworthy.I also have a range of spare parts, including pistons, engine blocks, geads, fuel tank, gearbox, new oil filters, new gaskets, etc. These are all increasingly difficult to come by now and so I have been collecting bits and pieces as time passes. The buyer will get all of these included in the sale as I am so passionate about keeping these all ladies on the road. They need to be preserved for future generations as they are part of our motoring and engineering history.Recently had some work done :Changed engine oil and filterChanged gearbox oilFitted a water temperature gauge (car did not had one from factory)New stainless Steel exhaust systemChanged to negative earthPatronix electronic ignitionNew plugsHas the original jacking system which is workingOriginal flag indicators work, also been fitted flashing onesAll gauges and heater workTyres almost new, spare one still has the label on it2 keysIf you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I also encourage all serious buyers to come and have a look . I am sure you won't be disappointed in the car.Serious and genuine buyers only please.
