Porsche 914 1971 1.7 Full restored, engine rebuiltIf you live at the other end of the country, I can recommend a great guy with a trailer that specialises in moving classic cars.You will struggle to find a better 914.This car was restored about 10 years ago.Back to bare metal, full respray. Engine and gear box rebuilt. Upgraded with twin weber carbs.-At a cost of over £20KI recently added an aluminium Renn short shift, which improves the notorious vague gear shift those 901 gearboxes have.Also new targa rubber seal.Oil just changed, with new filter, of course, and new filter strainer.Gear box oil changed also.Brake fluid changed, plus front brake pads replaced with upgraded units. (I have new rear pads too but haven't yet fitted).Also I have uprated flexible brake hoses, HT leads and new spark plugs but not yet fitted those (since the existing plugs are perfectly fine). Basically I keep buying upgrade parts despite them not being needed!You won't need to spend money bringing this car up to spec., though bear in mind it is a 50 year old car, it's not brand new, so usual tweaks and jobs will be needed just like any classic.Condition, inside, outside, underneath, everywhere is exceptional, for a 50 year old car.There are a few small rust blemishes but even with a full restoration, this is going to come eventually with the bad steel used back in the 70s.MOT and tax exempt.If you are after a 'bargain' please take a look at the few others listed. Price reflects the restoration and engine rebuild costs. I will fill in more spec/details through the week, and add more photos.I am in no rush to sell this, so serious enquiries only. I will ignore what I consider low offers!(eBay specifics lists engine size as '2' - I tried to put '1.7' but eBay kept rejecting that. Note engine size is 1.7, as in this description

More info from previous owner, which is still applicable now!

With little more than 60 working models left in the UK, this is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of a now ultra rare classic Porsche.

Having undergone a top to bottom restoration completed in 2004, its originality was maintained using OEM Porsche parts, costing over £20,000 at the time to bring it up to standard. Photographically documented, the car was stripped of all parts for a bare-metal respray in the original Signal Orange colour, followed by a full engine rebuild + upgrade to dual Webber carbs.

In the last couple of years the car has again had thousands spent on it, starting with a full interior restoration. This included:

* NOS seat belts

* New dashboard

* Bespoke made carpets (2 sets)

* Door cards, window winders and period correct black corduroy seats - all professionally restored by 'Southbound'

* NOS Blaupunkt Hamburg stereo installed with a hidden iPhone connection (via auxiliary Din cable)

* Handbrake and seat runners fully restored, re-plated and powder coated.

The car has been meticulously cleaned, serviced and maintained regularly by myself and a renowned 914 specialist. The engine bay is quite superb, certainly the best I've seen to date.

The brakes have undergone much work to improve them also, with upgraded brake-lines and pads fitted, all 4 brake calipers replaced with reconditioned Mittlemotors, a new master cylinder and peddle cluster installed. Tyres are excellent all round too + matching spare.

Front & rear valances, plus side sills covers recently restored. The extremely costly rubber seals have almost all been replaced, headlights restored and ultra bright Cibie units fitted which now makes a huge improvement.

New fuel pump and gear bushings from Auto Atlanta purchased, improving the ride and gear change from the unique 5-speed dog-leg box.

The car was first registered in Germany in 1970, then brought over to the UK privately in 1971. It's a rare matching numbers vehicle with the original 1.7l  80Bhp engine, now on Webber carbs.

Whilst extremely comfortable and refined, with its removable Targa top and 1.7l mid-engine aircooled design provides a fun, nimble and very well balanced driving experience.

This example runs perfectly, is well set up and is immediately ready to drive and enjoy. Mechanically spot on, interior immaculate, paintwork was ceramic coated professionally so now gleaming (a few small and discrete blemishes but otherwise superb). Supplied with extensive history, receipts, photos, and services documents dating back several decades.
