About of this car

This is a genuine 1600HF tipo 818.740 model and one of 3690 made. It was supplied new in Italy and first registered in Sicily on 28/4/1972.

According to the Italian papers on file, our car first changed hands in 1978 to a new Catania based owner who would keep his cherished HF until 2016; in the history file, there is even a photo of him with the car in 1978 when he first took delivery.

The Lancia was used regularly until 2002 when it was repainted in the original Lancia blue colour and thereafter used sparingly, mostly on regulatory rallies and other local events such as the Targa Florio tribute in 2004.

The HF left Sicily for the first time in 2016 when it was imported into the UK and sold to the current owner, who has retained the stock Lusso appearance but invested in an exciting high performance engine and other improvements, the aim being to achieve a technically brilliant example. Over £31,000 of receipted expenditure with the likes of specialist Tanc Barratt shows the cost no object approach taken with this car.

The icing on the cake is the very cool “Torino” style personalised registration number.

This car isn't a show pony so it does have some cosmetic age related wear but is quite superb to drive and is ready for your next event or road trip.

Bodywork

The body on our car is nice and straight with decent panel fitment. The older Lancia blue repaint (the original colour) has some touched in areas and some colour variation. Most panels have marks or imperfections but as you see she polishes up well. The doors were recently rebuilt and repainted.

The chassis has received attention in recent years with new floors and other works. All stainless trim is present with some parking dings. The Cromodora alloy wheels wear their original dull finish.

Mechanicals

If you want a terrific driving HF, this is your car.

In 2018 Tanc Barratt rebuilt the matching numbers 818.540 engine including fitment of newly rebuilt Weber 45 carburettors and Bosato camshafts, dyno tested 141BHP @ 6460RPM. This engine is very torquey and feels as quick as a Fanalone. Engine work includes:

Gasflowed ports and inlet manifold

Rebored block

New 1600HF crankshaft, dynamically balanced

Lightened flywheel

Ultrasonic cleaned head fitted with competition stepped valve guides and seats, new valve springs

New rings, bearings, seals, gaskets

New water pump

New 123 electronic distributor

New clutch

Competition type engine mount

Other recent works include:

New electric fuel pump and fuel regulator

New Koni adjustable shock absorbers

New ball joints

Steering alignment

New fuel tank

Wiring overhaul

Brake rebuild

New alternator

New Avon CR6 185/70 tyres all round

Interior

Our car is fitted with seat belts and a rare original Fanalone type Ferrero steering wheel. A complete set of new OE rubber matting with underlay is fitted. The seating front and back is in excellent condition. A phone/sat nav jacking point is a concealed fitment in the glove box. The door cards and headlining show their age.

Boot

Very clean with Cromodora spare and wheel cover, new OE rubber matting.

Summary

All the performance of a Fanalone for less than half the price in a refreshingly standard looking car. This genuine 1600HF is ready for immediate enjoyment and is supplied with owner's manual, ACI registration, ACI plaque and ID cards, copy Italian libretto detailing ownership and a raft of recent invoices. Plenty more pictures on the website.
