1957 Oldsmobile 88, A Frame off restored example w less than 1000 miles since its completion in 2019.This car was a 1 owner example that was extremely straight with no prior paint, body work, or rust repair needed prior to the restoration, there was only one dent to the passenger door that was very minimal.The Oldsmobile received a complete tear down to every nut and bolt. The plan was to replicate 1 of the original 6 Special LAPD (Los Angeles Police dept.) Highway vehicles that were to be used in 1957 prior to the CHP, They were equipped w Larger wheels, Tires, upgraded suspension, and even had a Roll Bar in them, MY client fell in love w the look in 1957 and promised himself that one day he would have a car like that. Upon painting the car he stopped in to see how the paint was coming along and decided he wanted the color combo in the presence that you see it today, he felt like he would get in trouble for impersonated an Officer.The exterior of the car is painted in a two stage using PPG black and a custom light blue, the body and prep work are extraordinary as well as the fit of the doors, windows, trunk and hood all spot on. This was a Bare metal respray, every piece of stainless was re polished to the highest standard which means some pieces needed to be re plated multiple times to ensure the best luster, as well as the stainless all of the chrome was also triple plated including all interior pieces as well, every nut, bolt, and washer were new, complete rubber and weather stripping throughout also new, I don't think there is anything that was used other than the Body and frame and the frame was disassembled and sent out for powder coating w all metal parts that carried the same color as the frame. The glass is all new and the original frame tracks were replaced for the windows that operate very smooth and provide an airtight cabin. Custom wheels were made to give the original look but are larger and provide clearance for the upgraded 4 wheel disc brake conversion, the car sits very well w a minimal rake stance, and wheels are 17 inch and have new Nitto tires. Working Appleton spots for driver and passengerInterior is finished in a two tone leather, all seams are Frenched double stitched, power late model Cadillac seats for the front and custom rear seat that has a fold down armrest, custom door panels front and rear, German carpet, complete interior including the trunk has been dynamated for optimal sound deadening, Full custom center console that has the stereo head unit in it (sat radio, Blue tooth, etc.) Power mirror control, and ambient light switch) Take the time and look at the quality of the interior bright work it is like a piece of jewelry, The original steering wheel was sent out and also restored as well as all handles and knobs of the interior, The stereo has all components hidden in the custom finished trunk, Vintage AC blows ice cold and added vents were placed for the rear passengers.The power comes from a New LS3 motor matched to the electronic 4L60E transmission, shifts are smooth and precise, the motor runs 180 with an upgraded Aluminum radiator and dual cooling fans, the car make aprox 575 HP, it cruises at 100MPH w no problem and four people in it, suspension is tight, turning is sharp w no play in the steering many photos of the car from the top to the bottom, There is over $150k spent on this car.
