So Cal Classic Car Storage is proud to announce the availability of this rare and beautiful 1955 Corvette in polo white and red interior. Unlike the 1954 Corvette, of which 3,640 were produced, just 700 Corvettes were built for 1955, with obviously far fewer left today. While the 55 Corvettes look nearly identical to their predecessors from the outside, there's one big difference, and that's under the hood, as 1955 was the 1st year for a Corvette to feature a V8 engine and a two speed automatic powerglide transmission. This gem was sold by Harry Mann Chevrolet in Los Angeles California and has a significant ownership pedigree, all of it on the west coast including Bob Wingate who owned it during the 70s. Bob was responsible for selling up to as many as 300 of the 55 vettes. All of the ownership history is in the west coast. This 1955 Corvette (vin #316) was in articles in Consumer Report, Peterson, Hot Rod and featured in numerous books written by Eric Richman. She was featured in Petersens Sports Car Classic Magazine in 1982 and was on the cover.

This NCRS example of the 1955 Corvette Roadster was treated to a comprehensive body off restoration commissioned  by a previous owner Eldon Graves from 1982 to 1985 and is and is one of 325 that were produced in this color of polo white of the 700 Corvettes that were built that year. Her matching numbers engine is the 195hp 265ci V8 with matching numbers powerglide automatic transmission. Her soft top is tan and is in perfect shape with no tears or rips. Her plexiglass windows are scratch free and are stored in the trunk in the holder. Correct air cleaner, ignition shielding, intake manifold, braided spark plug wires, chrome valve covers, radiator hoses and hose clamps, and generator are all in place, and the frame is clean, solid, and rust-free.

Restoration pictures as well as title transfers and registration from the 70s through the 2000's are included with the sale of this rare vehicle.  Also included is the NCRS embroidered patch and an original tool bag with tools and tool paper box and an original owners manual.

The best way to describe this gem is a high end driver/show car and it would not take much to have her ready for a concourse. Her paint and bright work still shows real nice and she is mechanically flawless as her 265 V8 runs smooth as silk, steering is lightweight and her brakes are perfect. Just recently her carburetor was rebuilt and a new fuel pump was installed. The beautiful red interior is best described as flawless. Current owner purchased this amazing vehicle at Mecum Auction in Pebble Beach in 2017. He is not able to enjoy the vehicle due to his busy work commitments anymore.
