For sale is this ultra scarce 1973 Ford Capri RS3100 for Full restoration. Model History -   In 1971 and 72, the Capri RS2600, had achieved great success in the ETC race series. With drivers of the calibre of the Late Great Brian Yogi Muir and Francois Cevert behind the wheel, the circa 960kgs Capris were ahead of the nose heavy / heavier ill handling BMW E9 Coupes. However, with Ralph Broad and Alpinas development skills and the September 1972 launch of the 3.0CSL, things started to change.By the spring of 1973 the 2.9 litre 320hp Capris, had reached the limit of their development. And when in July 73, the CSL received its BAT spoiler kit, the RS Capris were trailing behind.Fords answer was the RS3100.6 pre production cars were built during the summer of 1973On Thursday November 8th 1973, Ford issued a press release. And on the following day @ the Scottish motor show, works Ford driver Jackie Stewart unveiled the new 125mph Capri.1,000 road going cars had to be built to homologate the 3100cc engine, duck tail rear spoiler and front chin spoiler, however, only 250 RS3100s, were ever built, with production starting in November and finishing in December 1973.Sales of these cars were very slow and in July 74 a batch of 50 were sent out to Australia. It is thought that only around 130 of these Iconic cars have survived, some of which are re shells,  making them a very desirable car indeed. We are currently researching this examples history, but it was factory finished in Diamond White and is amongst the first 50 cars built. It  was supplied new by Ford RS Dealers Haynes of Maidstone ( one of at least 2 that they sold new )  to its lucky first owner in March 1974 and It appears that he lived in Bedfordshire. Its history from then until 1992 is not yet known ( Does anyone recall this RS, from the 1970s and 80s ? )But by 1992, it had been fitted with a Cologne body kit, Compomotive alloys and a glass sunroof and was located in the Nth East of England. Its then owner, tells us that it had previously been fitted with tripple Webbers and an LSD. He carried out a body restoration and had it repainted in works white / blue colours. It was last on the road in 1998.Listed for many years on the RS Register.          V5 document is with it.It has now been dismantled to a rolling shell and needs Full restoration. When we removed the Cologne arch kit, the cars original factory gold decals on both rear 1/4s are still in place, plus the Satin black under the rear screen. Its original engine is missing, but there is no shortage of Essex V6 Engines out there.Gear box and prop shaft are with it.It now rolls on later 6X13 RS alloysThe body shell needs the usual Capri repair panels, inc  floors, inner and outer sills, both rear 1/4s, front wings, f chassis rails, spring hangers, front panel, etc etc. Bonnet is good.An original RS rear Duck tail spoiler is with itBoth of the RS Only sun visors are with it, its RS Only black roof linin, along with the centre console and rear seatA full range of body repair panels are readily available and we can recomend a restoration company.World wide delivery @ cost is available.  Viewing is strictly by appointment OnlyPlease note, the above is for guidance Only, you are advised to do your Own checksSerious Buyers only please contact for more details.
