The Porsche 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911
model manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut. br/>the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model
since its 1963 introduction; namely the water-cooled engine
replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent
noise regulations. environmental concerns. a higher expectation for
refinement and a high-performance. four valve per cylinder engine
made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body
with a more steeply raked windshield and a re-designed interior.
There are Porsche 911s and then there is the Porsche 911 GT3.

Purchased in 2000 by Harlow Motorsport Ltd. this GT3R was upgraded
to RS specification and reworked in collaboration with Ricardo
Engineering to enhance engine and chassis performance to make this
a race winning car in its class. The original cost of this Porsche
GT3R was €204. 00 with the total expenditure of enhancements being
circa €350. 00.
Ricardo PLC are highly experienced and respected within the
motorsport world and. in conjunction with Harlow Motorsport. set
about turning this already impressive Porsche into a race winner.
Completed to 2001 FIA regulations. the brief outline to the
specification is as follows; rebuilt flat six-cylinder. 3598cc
engine (dry sump) mated to a rebuilt six-speed manual transmission
both with only two hours running undergone. power is delivered via
a single-mass. triple-disc race clutch. The suspension comprises
double coil springs front and rear and a fully adjustable Moton
four way dampers. Brake system is six-piston callipers at the front
and four-piston callipers at the rear; brake bias is adjustable by
a pivoted axle system. ECU and dash are from Motec. The chassis has
been strengthened and an enhanced welded-in roll cage fitted. br/>lightweight panels are also fitted wherever possible including the
bumpers. doors. front and rear covers together with removal of the
glass and replaced with plastic (other than the front screen). The
car is supplied with a number of spares. This is a brief
