ABOUT THE CAR:Time capsule. I suspect this car may earn high points if judged at MCACN in Chicago this fall. Anyone who buys this car may want to consider doing this. Also, having Jerry Mcneish of inspect the car and provide his certificate would also be likely to help preserve its history in a more official way. Now about the car: Beautiful GM Code R Matador Red with GM code 733 Black Vinyl Interior. Under 54,000 actual certified miles. Authentic SS, not a clone with 12 bolt BL code rear axle. Rear axle stamping, transmission stamping, and engine stamping all match the protecto-plate exactly. VIN stamping in the engine block and transmission case match the VIN plate. Amazing (almost unbelievable) condition for its age. Said to retain its original paint and orginal vinyl top--along with original interior. Appears to be all origional sheet metal car. Factory AM radio works perfectly! Harrison radiator, correct intake, double hump heads, and date coded GM delco alternator and starter. Said to retain even the factory air cleaner. Trim tag or cowl tag codes reflect or match the car's present options. Sold new to William Wilne of Walnut Creek California August 1968. Car was built at the GM Willow Run plant in Ypilanti, Michigan in March 1968. I have owned many "original" or "numbers matching" type cars. But never one that has impressed me as much as this 1968 SS Nova as far as how many "survivor" attributes it has and the condition thereof. I have title history/owner history on this car. It appears this is a two owner car! The mileage has been certified as "actual" not exempt --never rolled back or replaced, and the odometer works perfectly as does the horn, heater, and even the radio. The factory SS steering wheel is in mint condition. The headliner, door panels, and other areas of the interior are extremly nice for the age of the car as is the exterior paint and bright work. The truck appears to be untouched with all the GM factory spatter paint and GM spare tire and jack assembly still with the car. I was told the vinly top is also original to the car and the R6 on trim tag does indeed denote "Matador Red w/ White vinyl top". The frame, floor pans, trunk pan and rockers in excellent conditon for the age of the car. Appears to retain all the factory stainless trim and bright work and chrome that was installed by GM in 1968 in amazing condition for its age. GM stamping present in both rear quarters. This car retains its orgional high performance L48 350 engine that was only available with the SS package. The car retains its original automatic transmission and its original rear axle. The car has the SS heavy duty F41 suspension package 12 Bolt with multi-leaf springs. The L48 engine was the highest horsepower small block that could be ordered in the SS in 1968. The L48 350 engine was equipped with high flow double hump heads,10.25:1 compression ratio, and 4 -barrel carburetor.  One knowledgable person who inspected this car said it could quite possibly be THE best example of a 1968 SS Nova suvivor on the planet! Honestly, I am not convinced he was exagerating. The condition of the interior which is said to be original continues to baffle me.  I just drove this car back from a car event on Saturday 9/5/2021 and it was a pleasure to drive around a 30 mile trip on the interstate! In closing, this is a RARE car. Out of the 200,970 Novas produced by GM in 1968, only 5571 Super Sport Novas were built--even fewer SS Novas with the L48--and I suspect very few with the options this car has. In comparision in 1969 17,654 SS Novas were produced. 1968 was the last year for the Nova to be badged Chevy II and the only year to be badged both SS and Chevy II. This is a very low production rare special option car. I DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY PARTS, OPTIONS, OR FEATURES AS "BORN" OR "ORIGINAL" TO THE CAR--ONLY HOW IT IS SEEN HERE AND NOW IN 2021. THIS NOVA IS MORE THAN 50 YEARS OLD AND I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. OVER THE DECADES MANY PARTS OR FEATURES ON THESE OLD CARS COULD HAVE CHANGED DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR, AGE, OR FOR VARIOUS OTHER REASONS. HOWEVER, THIS IS LIKELY THE MOST "ORIGINAL APPREARING" CAR I HAVE EVER SEEN AND IS DOCUMENTED AS AN AUTHENTIC LOW MILE SS. I MAKE NO GUARANTEES NOR DO I ACCEPT ANY LIABILTIY FOR ANY CONFUSION OR DISPUTES THAT MAY ARRISE PERTAINING TO THE TERMS "ORIGINAL" , "NUMBERS MATCHING", OR "SURVIVOR" AND THIS CAR --NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. THESE TERMS MEAN MANY THINGS TO MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. NCRS USES DIFFERENT DEFINITION OF WHAT CONSTITUTES A SUVIVOR CAR FROM WHAT AACA USES. WHEN I SAY THIS CAR IS NUMBERS MATCHING I  MEAN THE STAMPING ON ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND THE REAR AXLE MATCH THE PROTECT-O-PLATE AND/OR VIN TAG AND I DID NOT HAVE THEM RESTAMPED-- NOR DO I HAVE ANY INFORMATION OR REASON TO SUSPECT THEY HAVE BEEN --TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. WHEN I USE THE TERM ORIGIONAL, I MEAN SOMETHING APPEARS TO BE A PERIOD CORRECT AS AN AUTHENTIC GM OR DELCO PART INSTALLED BY THE DEALER SERVICING THE CAR OR ON THE FACTORY LINE WHEN THE CAR WAS ASSEMBLED. IT IS THE BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY TO INSPECT OR HIRE INSPECTION OF THIS CAR AND TO MAKE HIS OR HER OWN ACCESSMENT AS TO THE CAR'S LEVEL OF "ORIGIONALITY" AS COMPARED TO THE STANDARD OF HIS OR HER OWN CHOICE.
