"Gertie"  A Rare "All Brass" 1932 Austin Seven RN Saloon. Starts, Runs, Drives. I bought Gertie from an old friend of mine just over 14 months ago. Gertie had been stood in a repair garage for just over ten years having been taken there to have the clutch sorted out, which would of enabled her to be driven at the front of the cortege for the funeral of her owner (my friend's father who had purchased Gertie on the 1st May 1991). Unfortunately the mechanics dismantled Gertie and not understanding the engineering, pushed her in to a corner where she stayed untouched for ten years. As custodian of this dear 89 year old lady I have:- Replaced the clutch fingers and springs, fitted grub screws to the flywheel to compensate for wear in the base of the fulcrum point for the clutch fingers. fitted a new starting ring.Fitted new bronze bushes and oversized kingpins to the front axle.forge welded and re-machined the woodruff key slot and taper on the o/s half shaft (back axle)Soak de-rusted the petrol tank.Discreetly fitted indicators - (as most young drivers only recognise two fingered hand signals) - they are removable, easily, if requiredTotally re-wired using the original type of cotton braided cable. - absolutely no spade connectors, or the like!Fitted a new 6 volt battery.Repaired the brass headlamp units.Fitted new brass wheel nuts,A new set of points. The radiator has been re-cored.fresh oil in the engine, gearbox and back axle. With everything else greased and oiled as it should be.I have also fitted (again, easily removeable, with no trace) a usb & transformed 12v socket for satnav or phone charging .I have driven her around 200-250 miles in totalThe not so good points. The Brakes!- renowned for being awful- I've spent a while trying to get an even balance on the brakes and she does slow down relatively evenly, but under hard braking she tends to lurch. She really needs someone to put her on a rolling road and adjust the cables, but I haven't the time to find a friendly local garage who'd do this for me - So would strongly suggest collection by trailer!Close up the paint is not as good as in the photos- not awful, but there is definitely room for improvement for the dedicated. The interior isn't the original leather it has at some stage been replaced with a blue leatherette version, it does the job but could do with a few clips around the base of the front seats. Also the carpet (originally would have been rubber mats) is a modern speckledy blue - but all part of it's history. The radiator temperature gauge is chrome whereas it should really be brass - I had intended to machine a new brass body for the existing unit but there just are not enough hours in the day for me.I have not replaced the tyres although all hold their pressure and have plenty of tread and appear serviceable.Gertie will come with Doug Woodrow's "Austin Seven Manual" an Austin Seven Companion book, a spares book and some original Austin Seven spanners, a hub removal tool a spare inner tube some spare fan belts and a few other bits and bobs along with a usb stick with photos of all the work (whilst in progress) that I've undertaken. The v5 is available & in my name.  Road tax exempt. Mot exempt. clean air & congestion zone exempt. & insurance is only around £65.00* year Including breakdown AND homestart.......yes, really! This is to auction only- there isn't a buy-it-now price, the auction will start at 99p and run to the end...  £250 payable via paypal within a couple of hours after the auction with the balance being paid by bank transfer before collection.Collection is from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
