1940 Ford Sedan Delivery

Extremely Rare 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe Wagon. this is a period correct restoration of an original hot rod build. just like it was back in the day. the last owner had hot rodded this sedan delivery in the 60's-70's. the car developed mechanical problems and the owner it parked in his southern C California garage in the 70's !!! we've brought this timeless period California Hot Rod Culture classic back to life, and kept it as close to the original Hot Rod build spec as possible. We wanted to retain that cool period correct feel and mindset on a car that can be used and enjoyed today, some 43 years later. the small block chevy V8 / auto trans that was in it was replaced / rebuilt. same vintage slotted mag wheels used on the build back in the day were restored. staggered, and new tires installed for ready on the road use. the car was tastefully lowered and has a lovely stance. the car has had virtually no rust on it at any time, and the frame and body was in amazing solid shape. this is NOT your typical rusty relic that was resurrected from a junk yard, that would give you structural nightmares for the rest of your days. even the wood frame inner structure for the body is original, rot free and untouched. This is simply an incredibly well and original preserved piece of Southern California Hot Rod History. period vintage gauges (some not operative yet kept for originality), the same period bucket seats still retain their original factory vinyl upholstery with no tears. the center point for the interior is the T-Bucket style brass and wood rimmed 4 spoke steering wheel was retained and in lovely condition. rare, half year only, beautiful ford claret maroon clear coat paint was polished to an ultra high gloss through a 5 step color sanding and buffing process that leaves an extremely deep gloss and slick finish. custom one piece power windows with central dash button operation. delivery floor is lovely wood with chrome type rub strips. it leaves plenty of room to carry lots of gear to the car show, and haul a bunch of lumber and groceries on the way home. aluminum radiator features both electric pusher fan and a polished aluminum flex fan, for the best of both worlds in cooling. snorkel blower type air cleaner features throttle operated dual intake butterflys, which are a real crowd pleaser with the blinking eyeballs on them. this body style is one of the rarest and most desirable of all the Fords of the 40's. Absolutely Iconic in every respect. this example will turn heads anywhere it goes, and the interior is built to be used to go pick up stuff from the hardware store. low mileage, late model engine runs nicely, features an engine dress up kit and color coordinated engine. a-oogha period retained horn on firewall. dual exhausts with period correct mufflers and dual flared chrome exhaust tips that you just don't see anymore. floor mounted trans shifter was retained from the original hot rod build. brake system has been totally rebuilt as period. for those desiring a slightly different look, an original front bumper can be made available. all glass is new, custom one piece power door windows are tinted plexi. interior also features new Bentley style carpeting, custom wedge crafted arm rests, highly varnished cargo flooring with chrome-style rub strips for a dash of style. beautiful, yet totally useful, practical and reliable. take it to the car show, and haul hardware from the box store on your way back home. tastefully lowered to an aggressive stance. you just have to see this car to fully appreciate it. worldwide shipping available. financing available. interesting vintage automotive alternatives considered.

Rarity

Although the 1940 Ford was a timeless, iconic design, they were not scarce. however, the Sedan Delivery model was both rare and unique. very low production numbers on this body style. most were used, abused and rusted into eternity, as nothing more than a memory. This car brings that faint memory ALIVE.   As a complete and intact, running survivor, in lovely condition, we believe the car to be an exceptionally rare find.  

Documentation and DMV

Title The standard California title is clear.  this car has the original California "Pink Slip", a collectable in its own right, and a cool talking point about the period originality of this unique automobile.

Plates (1) CA plates match title. California blue plate.

Registration last registered in 1978. YES...........1978 !! out of the DMV system, so there are no penalties.
