BEING RELISTED DUE TO A FRAUDULENT, NON-PAYING BIDDER (TWICE!). Nobody has time for that. PLEASE be real. PLEASE be ready to complete the transaction. I'm a good, honest guy. You be too. I also used the time to post some new, additional pics that better depict the gorgeous Cortez Silver paint. I have more. Just ask.....Up for sale is a real treasure. A METICULOULY restored 1965 Corvair 500. Having just three owners who drove it collectively just 51,000 miles, the current owner decided this was a perfect car to perform a mild custom, detail oriented and original restoration on. So he did. There is a complete binder included with the sale that details the restoration of this car. Completely torn down to a shell, everything was removed, cleaned, detailed and or replaced. The car was very straight and solid to begin with so the restoration was not a lot of cutting and welding but rather a sympathetic challenge to recreate and enhance what the factory and designers had already done. Originally Artesian Turquois with a turquois interior, the restorer/owner wanted a better contrast but still in keeping with the Corvair heritage. He chose Cortez Silver from the 1969 catalog and went with a full black interior in the correct 1965 500 pattern. Again, every attention was paid to detail. Even the dashboard, steering wheel and column were removed and restored with several painstaking hours researching the correct hue and finish. All three were different from the factory and it was important to match that for correctness. Mechanically this 500 started life with a low buck, 95HP engine mated to a manual 3 speed transmission. The decision was made to make this a sleeper 500 so a 1966 donor 140HP engine was chosen to be completely rebuilt and built up (30 over pistons and a 260 cam) to add just an extra rumble and scoot and boy does this car SCOOT! Like the exterior and interior, the engine bay was completely restored to factory spec. You could literally eat off the engine shrouds. Of course you won't because then you'd get crumbs! Following through the restoration, the trunk was stripped and detailed. The floors, although not rotted, were replaced for perfection purposes with exact reproductions from Clark's Corvair Parts. That being said, the undercarriage is a 10 out of 10. Yeah, you could eat off that too! I've included pics of all I've mentioned but I stress the fact that the pictures just do not do this car justice. Seeing it, driving it and experiencing it is truly jaw dropping. To start nit picking, I'll tell you that with close examination some solvent pop is present on some of the top surfaces of the paint. You really have to go looking to find it but it's there. Also, there is one small scratch at the very rear tip of the left 1/4 panel top. Easily touched up, we are providing left over paint from the restoration. I can provide pics. This is a true investment quality Corvair you can be incredibly proud to own. Cruise down to a local drive-in or take it to national competition concourse events and  you'll gain notoriety and big points! It's that good. Needs nothing but a caretaker to carry on the torch. This is a true investment. Corvairs, late model (1965-1969) in particular are becoming incredibly collectible and hot. Don't take our word for it, do your research. Hemmings, Hagerty and alike are all singing these cars praises and it's well deserved. I've personally been driving Corvairs since the mid 1980's and it's amazing and exciting to see them finally come into their own. It's LONG overdue. I have tons of pics I can forward to interested parties. Even a walk around video I can send along. I can also take individual custom photos of particular areas you want to see closer. There is nothing to hide here. I am an honest seller with a great reputation. That's most important to me. This car is with us on consignment with us. You will get a clean, Massachusetts title in the sellers name at the time of payment. We are open to REASONABLE offers on this car. I can also assist with transport to anywhere. It's most important this car goes to a worthy caretaker as that's what we are with cars of this quality. Caretakers for future collectors...If you have zero feedback, please contact me before purchasing or your transaction will be declined. Also, PLEASE check with the wife, husband, significant other, your banker, ect...to be sure you can follow through with the transaction. It's a frustrating process to have to cancel and relist which I've had to do TWICE with this listing. Incredibly frustrating and uncalled for. A $500 deposit due upon sale with the remainder due within 7 days. Thank you and good luck!
