My car named (The Duke) is a 1973 Mercury Comet GT. It was acquired about 7 years ago on a trade for a quad. Since then it has been about a 6 year restoration and still going as we are never completely done with our rides. A buddy of mine Chris Thompson (Paint and Body by Chris) of Salinas did the body and paint work. The color is Lamborghini Orange with gold pearl and the black graphics are under the clear coat. The car originally came with a 302 and has been upgraded with a 347 stroker. Built by George Camany of salinas. We built it to be 10.8:1 compression and run on pump gas. We fitted it with a Scat crank, forged H-beam rods,Probe forged flat-tops, and an Anderson N-71 roller cam. The top end features aluminum 200cc Bill Mitchell World Heads with comp cam full roller rockers and held tight with BMP stud girdle. It breathes through a Demon 750 carb with 1320speed atomizer plates.on top of a Keith Parker Funnel web intake. Fully studded with ARP studs and ARP bolts. It also has a Canton 7qt. Pan with windage tray. Also features full pertronix ignition, March Performance pulleys, 110 amp alternator, electric fan/fuel and water pump. The trans is a built C4 with a Broader manual forward shift valve body and it has a Hughes 3500 stall converter. It is shifted via B&M Pro Magnum shifter. The rear is a built 9” with 3.89 gears and a spool and also has Yukon axles. American Racing Torque thrust wheels. The front wheels are 15 x 6 fitted with 165/60-15 tires, the rear wheels are 15 by 10 fitted with 275/60-15 Mickey Thompson drag radials. It is a very fun street car and gets attention from all ages.
