One of the quintessential platforms for '50s customizing, the 1949 - 1951 Mercury Coupe was an instant classic. This car achieves the lead sled look with lowering springs, nosed hood with rounded corners, decked trunk lid shaved handles and emblems, 1953 Buick side trim, 1952 Desoto grill, 1954 Mercury taillights, tightened bumpers, and a 3 inch chop. Cadillac "sombrero" hubcaps, flush side skirts, and whitewalls complete the look. Motivation comes from a Flathead V8 with Offenhauser aluminum heads, Edelbrock dual intake with twin Stromberg two-barrel carburetors. Transferring that power to the wheels is an overdrive three-on-the-tree manual transmission. The period-correct running gear is enhanced with Vintage Air air conditioning in the cabin. Dakota Digital instrumentation allows for easy monitoring of the essentials. A modern Kenwood stereo ensures you can listen to your favorite tunes on cruise night.
