Body off frame restored. From a very fussy and knowledgeable collector. He only buys high quality, authentic cars with virgin metal. He has owned this car 22 years and put 1,500 miles on it. The car runs and drives like a new 1940 Ford. Everything works from the fog lamps to the radio.

EXTERIOR: Clean original metal. Painted 25 years ago and it has proven itself, it looks like it was done recently. No signs of body work, it is straight and there's no bubbling or cracking that I could find. Painted original Mandarin maroon. It is polished out smooth and glossy. All of the trim has been redone- bumpers, grill, headlight bezels, moldings etc. It is decked out with optional trim like grill gaurd and wing tips on the bumpers. The optional fog lamps work. The glass has all been replaced. The tan canvas convertible top is excellent, the frame work was restored. It folds easily. The rubber on the running boards were replaced. The rims were restored and it has the optional double trim rings and reproduction white wall tires.

INTERIOR: Fully restored. Has correct LeBaron Bonney interior. Genuine leather upholstery. The dash is all repainted. The instruments, knobs, steering wheel are all in mint condition. The radio actually works, the clock works as long as you wind it. It has a deluxe heater which is restored. On the floor it has the correct rubber mat in front and carpet in back. The door panels, window cranks and handles are redone. It is in excellent condition inside.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The motor compartment is restored and detailed like factory new. The original flathead V-8 motor just purrs. The carburetor was rebuilt. It has the optional oil filter, trumpet horns. The firewall and the metal is painted real nice.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely restored. Correct liner kit and Ford script rubber mat. All clean metal painted real nice. Matching reproduction white wall on a restored rim. Under the plywood panel it has original jack and Ford script tools.

UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame during restoration. The underbody is clean original metal with no patches. It was prepped and painted satin black. The steering and suspension was rebuilt. The brakes were completely rebuilt 3 years ago. Dot 5 fluid was used which doesn't corrode. Correct exhaust has stainless tip. Bottom of the motor is clean, it has correct 3-speed trans.

If you are looking for a car like this, this is the "right" one. I'm telling you it's from a collector that only has quality cars. The 40 Ford is one of the most popular and desirable antique cars.

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
Don't be intimidated, contact sales now for a no pressure, no hassle experience!

About Volo Auto Museum

No other collector car dealer has been in business longer than the Volo Auto Museum.  Owned and operated by the Grams family since 1960.  We are the only collector car dealer that has 4 generations of experience with buying, selling and consigning classic autos.  For our family, classic cars are more than a business, it is a passion.  Over the decades, we have maintained a reputation for dealing with integrity as proven with our high reviews and A+ rating with the BBB.

Buying a classic car can be exciting, but also stressful.  We want to take the stress out of your buying experience by allowing you the time and tools you need to get to know the car you are interested in before making your investment, not after.  Unlike auctions, we allow test drives, 3rd party inspections, the use of our shop and car lift.  No reasonable request will be turned down.

Selling a car can be equally stressful, but it doesn't have to be.  After reviewing your quality collector car, we will discuss the options we have available to you and let you decide what works best for you.  We have cash available for immediate sales and we also offer a consignment program that surpasses anyone else's.   Unlike percentage based programs with fees; we work with a no fee, net to owner.  This allows us the opportunity to treat and market your car as if it were our own.  We invest approximately $1500 of our own money into marketing your car, which means if it doesn't sell, we lose, not you.  So, we are more aggressive in selling your car!
