The Motor Trend writers explained: "For many, the Camaro is the one that got away. Not only was the body style unique, but it came to market with something for everyone: value-minded sixes, mid-level V-8s, and knock-your-socks-off, take-'em-to-the-track small- and big-blocks. This is a big reason why Camaros are now so highly sought and why the legend continues to grow."

The '68 Camaro Convertible offered here checks many of the boxes most collectors look for these days. It's big block. It's been nicely refreshed and updated without undoing the character that makes a '68 Camaro special. And of course, it's a convertible.

The exterior repaint in turquoise blue (one of the colors offered from the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant where the car was built) shows beautifully across all body surfaces, including the engine compartment. The gloss and smoothness of the paintwork speaks to a professional application. While not original to the car, the Z28 white stripes are still period-correct, and they've been perfectly applied to both the hood and trunk lid including the lip spoiler. The look is both stylish and classic. All appropriate emblems and badging are in place and properly located. This includes the added "396" and SS badging. The white-fabric convertible top is in pristine condition. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and undamaged. Styled steel wheels with chrome trim rings and "Chevrolet Motor Division" center caps are mounted with Cooper Cobra GTS raised-white-letter performance tires for a period-correct look.

The car's black interior theme is black. The color is featured on the bucket seats vinyl upholstery, the cabin floor carpeting, and across the dash. Woodgrain trim enhances the console and the center-dash area. A chrome-with-wood-rim "Camaro" branded steering wheel frames the instruments. A tachometer is mounted below the dash, while three auxiliary engine-monitoring gauges (for electrical output, oil pressure, and water temperature) have been added to the console. All the added gauges are lit in red. A Jensen audio unit has been mounted in the factory radio location. As to condition, the interior shows very well with only very light patina evident on some surfaces.

Under the hood, those exterior "396" badges on the front fenders are shown to speak the truth. A very well turned-out 396 cubic-inch Chevrolet performance engine is in place. Topped with a chrome air cleaner (also advertising the engine displacement and 350 horsepower with correct labels), chrome valve covers, performance exhaust headers, and the correct red Chevrolet engine-block paint. The engine compartment has been simplified for a spotless, well-organized look overall, again showcasing the turquoise body paint in perfect condition. The car's original cowl-mounted data tag is in place. Viewed from below, the car's chassis is free of any sign of damage from too-aggressive driving styles. The full dual exhaust (with crossover) emanating from the impressive performance exhaust headers is neither creased nor otherwise damaged. A rust-inhibiting coating covers most underbody metal surfaces. No body-panel rust is noted.

Fees and Taxes

For purchases within the State of Michigan, we charge a $200 documentary fee plus sales tax (6%), license (depends on original MSRP and birthdate) or transfer fee ($8), and title fee ($15). For sales outside the State of Michigan, we only charge a $200 documentary fee on top of the sales price.
