Yes, they made a lot of 55 Chevys but this one stands out. Everybody I talk to loves it. The unique colors, wheels, waffle pattern upholstery give it a refreshing look. The obvious quality is impressive too. We have a binder with restoration invoices and pictures. The pictures of it before restoration show that it was a very clean car to begin with. There are also pictures of it taken down to a bare shell. The owner that had the car restored was making it a competitive show car. There are several judging sheets and it was in the trailered class. It is a very authentic car using most of it's original born with components. #s, dates, codes match throughout.

EXTERIOR: Rare factory color combination. The body is in amazing condition. It is laser beam straight. I didn't find any damage, no blisters. Panels light up real nice. Doors close like new, windows roll smooth. The paint is smooth and glossy. The jambs are slick. It is decked out with some factors accessories: bumper guards, grill guard, rocker moldings, fender skirts, door handle and fuel door trim. It also has correct antenna, stainless window visors, chrome Vs under the taillights. Every piece of chrome and stainless trim is straight and shiny. The weatherstrips and gaskets are excellent. I love the yellow painted rims with center caps and beauty rings. They are mounted on reproduction Silvertown white wall tires.

INTERIOR: I love the interior too. The Delray waffle print is really cool because you don't see it often. This is the factory color which I wouldn't have thought of but it looks awesome, very 1950s. Starting on the floor it has the correct tight loop carpet and reproduction mats. The seat upholstery and door panels are excellent. The headliner and visors are excellent. The inside metal trim is repainted real nice. In front of me the whole dash area is beautiful- the steering wheel, instruments, knobs, heater controls, chrome trim, inside the glove box etc. Actually everything is excellent from the window cranks, kick panels, rear shelf, under the dash etc.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It looks like the day it rolled off the assembly line. It has it's original 265 motor and original parts- manifolds, Chevy script valve covers, air cleaner and the optional oil filter. Yes, oil filters were optional back then. It also has optional electric wipers. All the components look proper- the fan, generator, pulleys, horns, etc. The metal is a smooth satin black, the firewall is smooth yellow, under the hood is gloss black. The hinges are detailed. It looks like the wiring harness was replaced. It has original radiator with correct GM hoses and clamps. The trim tag on the firewall matches the colors of this car.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It looks brand new in here. We have pictures of the spotless metal before paint. It is painted just as slick yellow as the outside. Items that look new- wiring, rubber mat, rear seat divider, trunk lid insulators, weatherstrip, decal. It also has a restored rim with a matching white wall tire and a restored jack assembly.

UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame at time of restoration. The chassis was completely taken apart and rebuilt. All the front end components- bushings, ball joints, steering controls, springs, shocks and hardware were replaced. Rear suspension had new hardware and air shocks. The brake system was gone through. The brake hoses and lines have been replaced, e-brake assembly is hooked up. It has a factory type dual exhaust system with stainless tips.. the fuel tank, straps and lines look new. The bottom of the motor is still spotless Chevy orange. The starter was rebuilt. It has it's original Powerglide automatic transmission and it looks fresh. The body was reunited with new bushings. The underbody of the car looks rock solid. I don't see any patches. It has factory undercoat, it's been cleaned and painted. The dates and codes on the motor, trans and rear end are proper for this car.

This is what I call a sweetheart. It's an honest car that has been clean all it's life. I believe it will be very good to it's new owner. I'll miss it when it's gone!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.

About Volo Auto Museum

No other collector car dealer has been in business longer than the Volo Auto Museum.  Owned and operated by the Grams family since 1960.  We are the only collector car dealer that has 4 generations of experience with buying, selling and consigning classic autos.  For our family, classic cars are more than a business, it is a passion.  Over the decades, we have maintained a reputation for dealing with integrity as proven with our high reviews and A+ rating with the BBB.

Buying a classic car can be exciting, but also stressful.  We want to take the stress out of your buying experience by allowing you the time and tools you need to get to know the car you are interested in before making your investment, not after.  Unlike auctions, we allow test drives, 3rd party inspections, the use of our shop and car lift.  No reasonable request will be turned down.

Selling a car can be equally stressful, but it doesn't have to be.  After reviewing your quality collector car, we will discuss the options we have available to you and let you decide what works best for you.  We have cash available for immediate sales and we also offer a consignment program that surpasses anyone else's.   Unlike percentage based programs with fees; we work with a no fee, net to owner.  This allows us the opportunity to treat and market your car as if it were our own.  We invest approximately $1500 of our own money into marketing your car, which means if it doesn't sell, we lose, not you.  So, we are more aggressive in selling your car!
