National Senior AACA 1st place winner, 1992 Grand National 1st place winner. In 2014 it won a preservation award. We have photo album before during and after restoration. They started with a clean, complete car. It was not resurrected from the grave. It has been enjoyed 300 miles a year on average and meticulously cared for. It looks like it was recently restored.

EXTERIOR: Original born Matador red car. The body's absolutely pristine very impressive considering it was restored in 1992. It is laser beam straight, all the gaps are precise, everything shuts like a new car. The red paint is like glass but there are a few areas where there's hairline cracking from age. You'd have to look for it to find it. Every single piece of exterior trim and chrome still looks like it's new. Show quality chrome on the bumpers, all the stainless moldings is straight and polished. All around the windshield is shiny, window frames were rechromed. All of the glass was replaced with a soft tint. It has dual mirrors, door handle guards, rear antenna and the trim on the lower trunk lid. It has painted fender skirts ready to go on if you prefer them. The rims are red and have the correct hubcaps with spinners. They have radial white wall tires. The door jambs are really detailed. All the weather strips are replaced. The white convertible top is power, it works and still looks practically new. It has correct T-3 headlights.

INTERIOR: It was completely gutted to an empty shell. The metal was restored and everything was painted red, even where you can't see. I looked up under the dash, it is all restored like new. The dash is gorgeous, the red paint is like glass. All the chrome trim sparkles. The radio even looks new. All the knobs, lenses, handles, cranks look like new. Of course the upholstery, door panels, carpet were replaced. It has the reproduction floor mats. Seat belts were added front and back. Inside the glove box the liner looks new, the light works, it has the pouch with the owner's manual.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Correct cast code, engine stamp EC- 283, 4 barrel carb mated to a 3-speed. Correct numbers on distributor and generator. Motor compartment is completely detailed. It is factory correct right down to the GM hoses, clamps, Delco battery, glass bowl fuel filter. Correct manifolds, Chevrolet script valve covers, carb and air cleaner. It has the optional power steering and power brakes, electric wipers and power pack motor. It has correct finishes and it's still detailed to show quality.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The entire trunk compartment is painted gloss red. It has reproduction mat, well liner, stickers and weatherstrip. The jack and spare assembly are restored, the reproduction tire has never been used.

UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame for a complete restoration to factory new. Looking up at the motor the Chevy orange is still spotless. It has correct canister oil filter and the restored starter has correct numbers. It has correct 3-speed with optional overdrive. In back it has an AL code 4.11 posi rear. The chassis was stripped down, prepped and restored. All components like steering, brakes and suspension were rebuilt. It has correct spiral shocks. The fuel system was replaced including the tank, straps, sending unit and lines. The dual exhaust was replaced and looks stock but was upgraded to stainless. The floors are all metal and sprayed in primer. The body was reunited with the frame using new bushings.

Driven only 300 miles a year on average since it has been finished, it still shows beautifully. The fact it was restored 29 years ago and it still looks this good is a testament to the quality of the restoration. It feels and functions as good as it looks too.

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.

About Volo Auto Museum

No other collector car dealer has been in business longer than the Volo Auto Museum.  Owned and operated by the Grams family since 1960.  We are the only collector car dealer that has 4 generations of experience with buying, selling and consigning classic autos.  For our family, classic cars are more than a business, it is a passion.  Over the decades, we have maintained a reputation for dealing with integrity as proven with our high reviews and A+ rating with the BBB.

Buying a classic car can be exciting, but also stressful.  We want to take the stress out of your buying experience by allowing you the time and tools you need to get to know the car you are interested in before making your investment, not after.  Unlike auctions, we allow test drives, 3rd party inspections, the use of our shop and car lift.  No reasonable request will be turned down.

Selling a car can be equally stressful, but it doesn't have to be.  After reviewing your quality collector car, we will discuss the options we have available to you and let you decide what works best for you.  We have cash available for immediate sales and we also offer a consignment program that surpasses anyone else's.   Unlike percentage based programs with fees; we work with a no fee, net to owner.  This allows us the opportunity to treat and market your car as if it were our own.  We invest approximately $1500 of our own money into marketing your car, which means if it doesn't sell, we lose, not you.  So, we are more aggressive in selling your car!
