The car was fully restored by myself over a 4 year period. thousands of man hours went into it. The car has been stripped of everything that it doesn't need and is light. It weighs around 880kg and the engine produces around the 200 bhp mark so its good fun to drive. Its finished in 2 pac paint and turns heads and pulls a crowd wherever it goes. It had a big feature in the classic ford magazine (sept 2011 issue) and was invited by them to be shown at the classic ford show at santa pod. The magazine liked it so much they awarded me the home built hero of the year award.

For me it has mainly been a show car and has never been raced or put on the track.

It has always been dry stored ans has never been out in the rain. The reason for sale is i just dont seem to be able to find the time to use it any more. it only covered 150 miles between the last 2 mot's. I have bills totaling around £12. 00 for parts only.

If you were to build your own and couldn't do the work yourself im sure you would be looking at £20. 00

If i was going to keep the car i would replace the passenger side door seal for a second hand one becaus it was replaced with a new one along with most of the others but its much thicker than an original and makes the door a tight fit. I would replace the gear lever linkage for a new rose jointed type. The original one is fine but i would prefer to see a better one fitted. Also i noticed the last time i drove it i noticed some oil in the water. This is a bit of a common fault with the xe heads and is an aesy fix im told. Apparently its an oil way that runs accross the head and only needs a hair line split and it allows some oil into the water system. I have been on the vauxhall forum and checked with what everyone has to say about it and it doesn't affect the way the engine runs or performance(which i can vouch for) and it can be fixed by sleaving the oil way or what i think sounds a better method is to get the head resin dipped. I certainly wouldn't change the head as it is so well engineered
