1972 Chevrolet Nova SS

Originally Purchased through Berger Chevrolet of Grand Rapids, MI - Pro Street Build - 540ci/735hp V8 - TH400 Transmission - Dana 60 4:30 Rear End - Roll Cage - Power Steering - Fast and Fun

(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this vehicle on a website other than our main website, it's possible that only some of our many photographs of this car are presented due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the photographs, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.)

The old joke about Nova meaning "no-go" certainly does not describe this car very well. This is a powerful car that was treated to a pro-street build in the 90's and was an AutoRama exhibited car. Not too much has changed since it was first built, it features a built 540ci V8 mated to a TH400 transmission. It's enough to scare the hell out of you and your passengers thanks to the 735 horsepower pumped out by the V8. Mashing the throttle is an eye opening experience!

The exterior styling has been kept pretty tame, the Nova body lines that we all know are pretty much uninterrupted. A few additions are a short and simple spoiler on the rear trunk lid, and the aftermarket wheels and tires are the only dead giveaways that this car is packing some power. Dark blue metallic paint shines even after all the years since the build, and the same is true about the chrome and all the trim. Even gloss and depth in the paint make it hard to direct your glance away from this car. Simple, thin pinstripes in contrasting bright blue and red provide a little bit of an accent on the trunk lid and lower rockers of the car. They are also a quick reminder of what the trends were when the car was originally built.

From the driver's seat, it's evident that the car is prepared for speed, or what we would call eye popping acceleration. A good firm punch of the gas pedal and you get a quick lesson about g-forces, and how quickly the "sweeping" speedometer can sweep from left to the right. A number of AutoMeter gauges keep tabs on engine vitals, and a Cheetah SCS shifter makes gear selection a little easier. The remainder of the back seat conceals both the ends of the roll cage, and the large tubs that allow the wide wheels and tires to fit under the fenders.

Now that we've gone on about how fast this car is, we should probably share the engine specs with our readers. Dart 'Big M' engine block, ZL1 aluminum heads, Scat forged crank, forged pistons which help achieve an 11:1 compression ratio, forged H-Beam, solid roller cam, Crane Cam roller rockers, Team "G" Dominator Intake, 850 Demon carb, MSD Ignition, and Hooker SuperComp headers are just a few highlights of the engine build. The TH400 has been competition built w/reverse mounted valve body, deep pan, trans brake, and Dana 60 rear end with 4.30:1 gears. All of the power is sent to the large rear tires which are 31x18.5x15 Mickey Thompson tires.

As enthusiasts we can joke about 'Nova' meaning 'no-go', but this car certainly does not fit that old joke. A built 700+ horsepower V8, roll cage, bucket seats, tubbed rear fenders, wide tires are just a few of the highlights of this car. If you're looking to go fast and burn some rubber in the process this is a car to consider. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on our main website: Garage Kept Motors. Call if interested or e-mail with any questions. Thank you for looking.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
