PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION,AND PLEASE NO OFFER UNDER THE START PRICE. I WILL NOT REPLY

I`m HAVING MONTHLY TREATMENT FOR AN ON GOING ILLNESS, ,WHICH BECAME WORSE JUST AS I FINISHED THE RESTORATION ,I THEN HAD TO GO ONTO MONTHLY TREATMENT AND THE SIDE EFFECTS ARE TAKING IT OUT OF ME QUITE A BIT .I`VE  BEEN ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE UNTIL THE TREATMENT HAS IS EASED OFF ,WHICH COULD BE INTO NEXT YEAR . THERE IS NO POINT IN LETTING MY CAR SIT IN THE GARAGE. SO MAY AS WELL  LET SOMEONE ELSE  ENJOY IT

THE START PRICE IS WAY  LESS THAN IT HAS COST IN TOTAL ,SO A BARGAIN .IT`S ALSO OFFERED WITH NO RESERVE MAKING IT AN INVESTMENT.

I HAVE ANOTHER CLASSIC IN STORE ,WHICH NEED RESTORING..FORTUNATELY NEARLY ALL THE JOBS ARE TO BE OUT SOURCED ,CHROMING/ SEATS .WOODWORK etc. NOT THE JOB THE ROVER WAS .SO WHILE I`M OFF THE ROAD MYSELF I CAN TINKER WITH THAT FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS.AT LEAST I`LL HAVE SOMETHING TO DO

I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BASKET WEAVE TRUNK WHICH I BOUGHT FOR TH ROVER TO SIT ON THE LUGGAGE RACK WHICH CAN FOLD OUT.HOWEVER IT TURNED OUT TO BE TOO SMALL SO I`LL GIVE THAT TO THE WINNING BIDDER.

After restoring classic cars , for over 25 years as a hobby I finally decided to buy a car to restore and keep I bought the Rover during the first lockdown, knowing it would be a while before I could use it , since it was one to keep I could restore it as well as possible, with no expense spared .  The effort of driving a heavy old car due to my age and illness, is too much of an effort , with basic steering, heavy brakes and non synchro gears, not really the pleasure it should be, even though the car drives as it should for an 86 year old.Which is only a few years older than myself !!!  Sad but have to be sensible so I have reduced the price to less than it has cost me in total I spent over £3000 just on restoration . It can go into store if it fails to sell at this bargain price.
I`ve rebuilt the top of the engine as a valve was sticking , at the time it was obvious the engine had been reconditioned not long. ago, due to the excellent condition of the pistons and bores. . Compression on the 4cyl. Is now between 115 lbs and 117 lbs, which is even better than when new, the engine is now excellent and doesn`t smoke at all The SU carb has been rebuilt but really needs fine tuning ,this requires the car to have a decent run to get it up to temp. . There are all new hoses and water outlets, which had been patched up due to corrosion and a new thermostat. In 2016 there is a receipt to show that the gearbox was overhauled and a new clutch fitted , costing £1440. in 2014 the rear axle was serviced new parts fitted and flashing indicators were fitted cost £1044. so the mechanics are excellent.

The previous owner hardly drove the car for the last 5 years before he died as the steering had an excessive amount of play in it and he was too nervous to drive it, he was also the same age as the Rover !!! the few times he did go out in it there was usually an argument with his gate post or hedge.
The   the steering box which had 5 inches of play at the wheel was rebuilt by experts at a cost of £980 , this brought the play back to normal. I`ve checked the king pins and both are excellent the steering ball joints are all adjustable which i`ve done. And i`ve had the tracking set so mechanics are finished .
The electrics had been messed about with over the years and a few electrical item were not working or intermittent . Most of the engine bay wiring was replaced and I fitted an extra fuse box for safety. even the trafficators work now when the indicators are switched on . Since the indicator stalk was damaged. Ive fitted a new one , along with an alarm to warn when they are on. All the electrics are now working , even the interior light. Ammeter also shows a charge when running.
The body required the most attention , so I built a “tent” in my garage to reduce dust . most of the paint was removed and repairs to the body were carried out where required , the whole body was spayed with two or three coats of primer , coats of black and maroon base coat. When dry several coats of 2 pack lacquer were sprayed onto the body this was left for a few weeks to harden off, then flatted with 2000 wet and dry and cut and polished , leaving the body looking superb . The seats have obviously been reupholstered as they  the door cards and wood door cappings  are excellent.the headlining has also been replaced in the past The interior is now excellent.  Most of the chromework I had rechromed ,inc copper plating, the best ,This cost £800

Car length is 13ft 4 inch  width is 5ft 2 inch and the engine is 1496cc

The insurance , has  just   run out and I don`t want to pay for another year, so it can go onto a laid up policy. It was insured on a classic car policy, agreed value of £15000 costing £134 / yr I can help organise delivery with firms I have used in the past . I need to sell it, as i dont want to keep looking at it sat in my garage.

FOR SALE WITH NO RESERVE AT I NEED  NEED TO SELL IT  .IF IT SELLS FOR THE START PRICE ITS AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN AND INVESTMENT.COMPARE WITH OTHER ROVER 12s ON SALE
