The P6 was launched in 1963 and promptly won car of the year. It was an advanced design with panels that bolted onto a base unit, disc brakes on all four wheels and de-dion tube rear suspension. The single carburettor version was joined by the TC in 1966 and then in 1968 Rover installed a modified version of the lightweight Buick V8 which allowed, in manual “S” form 120mph plus performance.

This car is a 1975 P6 V8S manual in Lunar Grey with “Sandalwood” flat pleat leather interior - a special order by 1975 as most cars had "box-pleat" interior. It also has the desirable options of power steering and a “Webasto” sunroof. It has an interesting history and was first registered to the managing director of Lucas at Birmingham.

This is a good solid car that presents very well and I recently took it to the BMC day at Gaydon where it was much admired. It came to us as a p/x in a more expensive classic - there is room for a little improvement in some areas with a little time spent (but no substantial expense) although at this price it represents excellent value. It has recently been serviced and had the carburettors rebuilt and is running and driving well.
