Peugeot 205 Gti for sale

96K Low milage Barn find.

The time has come to part ways with my beloved Peugeot 205 Gti. I have far too many projects on my hands and not enough time to do them all, so sacrifices need to be made unfortunately. As much as it breaks my heart to let it go as I have invested so much time, love, blood, sweat and money I am willing to let it go but only to the right buyer and for the right money. These classic cars are rising in value and if it does not fetch a price I am happy with, I will retain it and continue the project at a later date. Even as I write this I don't to want to sell it but i am getting grief off the Mrs.

It was originally manufactured in 1989 and I have owned it since 2009. It is Topaz blue which was only available through Peugeot for approximately 8 months which makes it a rare item indeed. It has only covered 96,121 miles and has been dry stored for over a decade - we have since had a family and bought a Vw camper and that too has been a project of mine. The vehicle comes with an extensive folder of receipts and paperwork to demonstrate that it has wanted for nothing as well as the original Peugeot Warranty/Service Record.

It has 4 previously recorded keepers and I purchased it locally from a female who had it since 2005 in their family for a period of time before they had 2 children and found it wasn't big enough for their needs. It had damage to the rear valance from when I bought it so replaced the valance with a new one however this needs painting to match.

When I purchased it, It had been stood for a period of time. when I took it for the MOT all it needed was a new battery, wipers and brake discs and pads. I ran it for a period of time before exchanging the engine for an Mi16 item. (All photos available). The Mi16 motor came from HiFlow Heads in Scotland and I still have the receipt for £5,182.73 where the engine had a considerable amount of work. The engine since it has been fitted has covered approximately 10,000 miles.

Whilst the work was been undertaken, it was wax oiled underneath, the rear beam adjusted and a new stainless steel exhaust fitted. Peugeot 306 GTi-6 brakes fitted up at the front and new Eibach springs fitted with 306 Gti-6 struts. It also has had 309 Gti bottom arms and new brake lines.

It has the iconic rear red Peugeot 205 Gti reflective badge on the back however I have an original item to replace it as i wasn't the biggest fan and prefer the look of the slatted item.

A few weeks ago the vehicle returned from Bogg Brothers at Malton, North Yorkshire where the Mi16 engine was fitted with Kawasaki ZZR1100 carbs, a 4-2-1 branch manifold and set up on a rolling road. Since then the vehicle has returned home and been dry stored. The original bonnet has been removed and I have an automatic bonnet to go in its place. (Bonnet needs painting). It needs the choke cable putting in place which I intended to do once I had removed some of the old ECU wiring as this is redundant since the carbs have been fitted. It is estimated that the vehicle is running conservatively between 175-200bhp.

I am a qualified auto-electrician and protected the vehicle by fitting a Cat-1 Clifford Avantguard 5.5 alarm and immobiliser. It also has an Intellistart 4 module fitted allowing the user to remotely start the vehicle.

The body of the car is in good condition and has not seen new paint in the time I have owned it. In all honesty it needs paint for the new bonnet and the boot and rear valance need paint but really its in good condition. There is some surface rust under the bonnet in the usual places - my intention was to take the engine out and give the whole thing a new respray in the original Topaz blue. The two front fog lights were rusty two so have been removed and new replica items ready to be fitted.

It has original SMR 1.9 alloys fitted which are free of curbs, marks or defects - These have been powder coated in anthracite grey. The tyres ideally need to be changed due to it been stored for a period of time and slight cracking appearing. The rear drum brakes have recently had new shoes fitted and free of any defects.

Inside it has half leather interior front and back which is in good condition however slight bolster wear to the drivers seat. The gear knob is original but buyers will be aware these are prone to cracking. There are Cerwin Vega front speakers fitted to the original positions powered by a hidden amplifier - The speakers are mounted to custom builds which can be removed and the original grills returned to give it a factory appearance. There is a Cerwin Vega subwoofer and another amplifier powered by Phoenix Gold wiring. The amplifiers are made by Phoenix Gold and has an Alpine head unit fitted upfront. All the stereo equipment will be removed prior to the sale unless an amount is agreed to let it sell with the vehicle.

The vehicle really is too good to let go and have forgotten how much it has had fitted and how good it will look once it has had some paint. It is currently registered off road and has no MOT - the new owner will need to arrange transportation to transport it to their residence safely and legally.

These items do not come up all that often and now is your chance to own a piece of motoring history. All the changes are beneath the surface and do not spoil the original look or appeal of the vehicle. I have tried to be as honest as possible but probably forgotten one or two bits but feel free to get in touch via my mobile (07743100179) to ask any questions or have a chat. Viewing by prior appointment only.

Given the vehicles rarity and the low milage i have set the price at £7,995. Looking at other models available on the market at the minute I believe this to be well priced given its history and work undertaken and its value is only set to continue rising in the future. I am in no hurry or rush to sell the vehicle so please refrain from offering silly offers or any part exchanges. I reserve the right to remove the listing and retain the vehicle at any time.

Many thanks for looking and I welcome any questions.
