EXTERIOR
Beautifully presented in a two-tone combination of Champagne Metallic and Grey the period style of the R107 SL has stood the test of time to become an icon of its era, with its long nose, chiseled lines and vast chrome grille creating a presence that came to define the 70/80s grand tourer style.

Having covered less than 17k miles from new this 500 SL must be one of the best in existence, free from corrosion or dents the bodywork shows in highly original condition with just couple of stone chips and a light scuff to the rear arch to note in the gorgeous gold finish. Furthering the fantastic condition of the car the exterior chrome retains a bright, mirror finish whilst the lights show free from any signs of cracks or fading.

Offsetting the SL's bright coachwork the black soft top provides some quick and effective weather protection, free from any marks or tears, with the added benefit of a colour-coded hard top which allows for enjoyable all-year driving.

INTERIOR
Continuing the superb 80's style of the 500 SL, the cabin is upholstered in a period pairing of Dattel leather and Brazil Sports Check fabric to create a light and airy space. Burrwood trim offsets the fair shade of the upholstery adding a distinctly premium feel to the space, whilst the black thin rimmed steering wheel and 3 instrument cluster provide a clear comfortable set up for the driver. Dropping the soft-top bring the 500 SL into a league of its own, with its automatic gearbox and large supportive seats making it the ultimate sunshine cruiser.

Sparing use and careful storage has preserved the condition of the interior beautifully, with none of the usual areas affected by hard use or neglect; upholstery shows free from any stains or creasing, with the steering wheel showing an even and consistent texture throughout.

For those concered with originallity the original headunit is supplied with the car and can be easily interchanged with the more modern Kenwood stereo currently fitted to the car.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Featuring a 4,973cc V8 the 500 SL was the 2nd most powerful car in the R107 series, producing 237bhp it could manage 0-60 in just 7.4 seconds and go onto a top speed of 140mph. Paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox the 500 SL makes for a smooth but fast grand tourer, utilising the impressive torque of the 5L V8 to accelerate comfortably in any gear.

This generation of Mercedes is known for its exceptional reliability, with cars known to hit 200k miles with ease, so this sub 17k mile example sits in exemplary mechanical condition. Inspection reveals the underside of the car mirrors the condition of the rest of the car, with evidence of the original Waxoyl the car shows free from any signs of corrosion or clear signs of road use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Completing the period look of the 500 SL are the 14″ alloys, known as “Mexican Hats” thanks to their raised centres and curved outer sections, which show in pristine condition free from any scuffs or signs of curbing. Matching pairs of tyres adorn the front and rear axles, show with good and even depth at both sides.

HISTORY FILE
First registered on 03/01/85 this time-warp R107 500 SL must be one of the most original, low mileage examples remaining on the road. The car was purchased by the first owners Company and then transferred into private ownership with the same owner when the company was liquidated in 1992. From this point the car was then kept until the first owner passed away in 2005, it was then transferred to his wife's ownership and sold later in the same year with just 11,384 miles on the clock, as verified in a letter from the family that owned the 500 SL for almost 20 years.

From this point of single family ownership the car has since been sold between 3 private collections and kept in storage throughout this time, hence the incredible condition of the vehicle and unbelievably low mileage, which is also verified through a log of online MOT certificates in more recent years.

The current V5 shows 5 former keepers of the vehicle, however 4 owners in total would more accurately describe the the ownership understanding the story of this incredible vehicle.
