Jaguar MK2 2.4 litre, MOD, Historic Vehicle.

Running engine, working clutch, working brakes, Dynamo charging,

Rebuilt S.U. Fuel pump. Rebuilt carburettors. Here for sale is what I'd describe as a running restoration and a good opportunity to enter the World of classic Jaguar Mk2 ownership without necessarily have to spend out huge sums of money in one hit.

This example is near complete except for the sun visors, front carpets, one wheel trim (currently replaced with a Daimler one) and a spare wheel/ tool kit.

The Jag is now running after a rebuild of the fuel pump and carburettors. The engine does run well although I recommend a change of plugs and some tuning to improve things further. It's a pretty clean running engine with no smoke and untoward noises.

Of course a full service should be carried out on this Jag as then you know where you are.

I have the car running from a 5 litre fuel can in the boot. Original fuel tank will probably benefit from draining and cleaning.

Luckily the clutch is not stuck like so many barn find examples. There is a bit of air in the clutch hydraulics but a few pumps when needed will bring the pedal back for operating the clutch .

Brakes are working and no spongy pedal. Brake light switch is sticking meaning the brake lights are always on when the car is running.

The exterior lights are working :-

Side lights on all corners,

Dip beam,

Main beam,

Indicators- all four,

Number plate light,

Reversing light,

One fog light.

The glove box interior light works. Main beam warning light, Ignition light, handbrake warning light, instrument illuminating lights.

All of the four small center gauges work. Rev counter not working.

Good oil pressure (36-40 psi) at around 70 degrees.

Dynamo works and charges the battery.

Wiprers - fast and slow speeds works.

Interior fan works (2 speed).

Radio does work - I did pick up an obscure Welsh radio station the other day.

Interior is complete except for what I mention above . It's salvageable but will need work, repair, conditioning etc. Please have a good look at the photos - I do have more photos available.

Structurally this Jag thankfully is good , strong and straight in all the main places. There is work required though to both sills (driver' Side sill particularly) but both sill are good enough for repair.

The driver's footwell needs welding around the base of the accelerator pedal which is a common area... the underside of this area will need attention naturally.

The front slam panels on the top will need plating/ attention.

Generally the floors , chassis rails and much of the rest is strong and not rotted like many I have seen. The spring hangers look to be pretty good and have had what looks like good tidy repairs at some point in the last few years.

The front wings have areas of deterioration but looking at them closely these can be worked with.

All four doors surprisingly are pretty straight and good. Some minor areas at the bottom with deterioration but miles better than most project MK2s out there!

The inside boot area is good and clean. Arches are good as are the strut tops.

In under the bonnet, inner wings and bulkhead are pretty good and strong and it appears to me that there is little or no work required in these areas.

Externally there are the odd spots of rust although it's not that bad at all. The boot is the one panel that could do with replacing as the bottom edge is rusted through - this being the worst visual part on the vehicle.

Paintwork has all its marks and bubbles in places (additional photos available) and particularly there is paint loss on the roof but to be honest this is an attractive looking Jag as it is and would be quite appealing to many as a running, driving and roadworthy example without needing the typical “full restoration “ although this is a restoration project the new owner has more options with this example compared to most projects MK2s.

Please be aware, this is not a weekends work necessarily to have on the road. There is plenty of work here for the new owner. If you're wondering about a full restoration then it's several thousand pounds as is typical with any classic car these days.

All chrome, trim, glass , handles and in fair condition and complete.

The ignition key is correct and locks both front doors and the boot.

Tyres are not the best so these should be dealt with before taking to the road. One tyre in actual fact is a new one.

All in all an interesting and attractive and now rarer MK2 2.4 with wide bumpers example that is near complete and with a nice colour combination. Good strong engine and the all important all synchro MOD gearbox.

I can help with delivery of this classic Jag to your chosen destination within the U.K.
