Ford Cortina MK3 2 Door 1.6L Decor model with a genuine 18000 miles from new and 4 owners. Ordered new by Mr Adamson from Gateshead in Daytona Yellow. The L Decor model was only made for around a year and being a 2 door and an auto the owners club think it may be the only one of this configuration left.

The first owner got a company car not long after getting his new Cortina but he opted to keep it using it occassionally. He kept the car till 1986 when it had covered 13000 Miles. During his ownership he fiited the aftermarket sunroof (wish he hadnt).

The Second owner was a Mr Richardson also from Gateshead who had been aware of the car for a number of years. He managed to buy it in 1986 and planed to give the car a new lease of life. He waxoyled the underside of the car as it was solid and it was given a light cosmetic restoration. The decision was taken to paint the car as some of the panels had faded due to sitting in a garage with a glass window and in direct sunlight. The car was mainly taken to shows and won several trophies in its day. Around 2004 with the mileage still at around 17350 the car was put on ebay and was won by the televison production company Kudos. When they came to collect the car the timing belt snapped and this scuppered the deal. It was later established that they were buying a car for ''Life on Mars''. After the belt failure the car was fixed and put back in the garage and stored till around 2006.

The third owner a Mr Knox also from the Newcastle area used the car also very occasionally MOTing it in 20067 and 2008 still showing only 18611 miles. The car was presented for an MOT in 2011 with 18861 miles which it failed and it was then put in the garage till 2017. It was then stored at a business premises until 2020 when it was sold to the 4th owner also from the North East.

There is a small history folder with recent receipts for parts bought recently and the detailed information on each owner as above. The 4th owner went to a great deal of trouble to verify the cars history and mileage before he bought it. There is no previous service history or old MOTs with it.

Body - The car itself has never been welded and is extremely solid. It was waxoyled many years ago which has helped it and also the fact that its been stored and pretty much unused for the last 15 years. Paintwork is decent but it has picked up a few marks in storage. Bit of rust showing on lower front panel and a few bubbles on os wing top. Also bit of bubbling on very bottom of osr arch. One bubble on NSF wing. The Doors, sills, rear arches, inner wings and boot areas are all rock solid. Vinyl roof has two tiny holes at the back one either side. Hardly noticeable but they are there.

Interior - Completely standard and in very very good order, backing up the mileage. Pedal rubbers are hardly worn. Doesnt look like its ever had a radio fitted.

Mechanics - Car starts runs and drives but will obviously benefit from a further checkover due to lack of use. Front calipers have recently been rebuilt with new pistons and seals, new front flexi hoses, new front indicators,Timing belt very recently replaced, new thermostat, radiator cap, bottom hose, new heater matrix, halogen h4 headlights. . new plugs, oil and filter.

Wheels recently refurbed with 4 new tyres

Overall a very cool old car with an interesting history. This car could be used as is with very little work, or easily made in to one of the best and rarest cortinas about. Please feel free to come and see the car. If restrictions are still in place we can send as many pictures and videos as you need. Delivery can be arranged if required please ask for a quote.
