Ford Escort RS Turbo 90 Spec

For sale is my 1990 RS Turbo, cars done 106k miles, its tested until April 22, comes with 2 keys and a folder of receipts.

Il break the advert down into parts of the car and be as clear and honest as I can be, I do not want to waste anyone's time nor do I want mine wasted.

So bodywork, its very good, the car was made category D back in 2011 for damage to a wing and door, it was repaired, and we can assume any other corrosion it will of been suffering from at the time was also, before being fully painted in its original diamond white. The paint job is a good one, there are a couple of blemishes its not faultless, but the car looks really good all round. There is no rust, bubbling, dents or scratches, there is however a small crack in the paint at the bottom of the drivers door. The trim all fits well, the swage lines all line up, the panel gaps are all good, the doors all close well etc. Its not completely original nor is it concourse, its a very clean solid example. Its been coated in wax and garaged during my ownership, and appears to have been treat similarly throughout its life.

Underneath I would describe it as "used". Its straight with no major rust, but has surface rust on stuff like arms and arb's, and the bushes are tired as are the shocks and springs. This was always where I planned to add to the car with a strip, powder coat etc however circumstance has now got it for sale. I will supply a brand new full Poweflex bush kit with it along with 2 rear wheel bearings to get started. It has Gmax shocks and springs which are fine, but personally I would change these out moving forward. Brakes are new OE items with plenty of life, it has 5 alloys all with excellent Goodyear tyres.

Engine wise its a good one, I bought it with a few issues so have spent a bit of time going round the engine. It has had a new oil pump fitted at which point the bottom end shells etc were checked over and all looked good. A new Turbo Technics hybrid was then fitted, along with stem seals, lifters, plugs, timing belt, oil and filter, and it was then set up at Motorscope in Northallerton on a dyno. The car has fitted a Pace intercooler, Magnex exhaust, Piper filter, uprated actuator and a chip, it only made 152bhp at 1 bar which suprised me, I was expecting 180 maybe. Anyway a week later a lifter collapsed and shut a cylinder off, so I think this will of been causing the low power at the time of tuning. I believe a proper set up now from the likes or MSD it would see a bit more, it does drive well though regardless of figures. Gearbox, gears run nice and quiet, when coming down the gears occasionally when dropping the clutch it will jump out of 3rd, maybe the synchro needs looking at, it's only 3rd it does it and not always, it was again on the to do list if keeping. It has a fairly new clutch in it with no issues to report.

Interior is immaculate really, you wouldn't think its 31 years old. Recaros are perfect, carpets great, everything works as it should, passanger window is slow but works. Sunroof has no leaks, original Ford radio works fine, its fitted with an OMP wheel but I do have the original. It very good inside if only a bit rattly haha typical Ford!

I have priced the car to account for what is currently available and HPI clear, do not come trying to batter me on the fact it has a marker against it, if that bothers you, look at ones that dont. Please only get in touch if you have read the advert, are happy with what you have read, have the money, and want the car, there is negotiation room but its not going for nowt, it can quite happily sit in the garage another 10 year if needs be.
