1987 BMW M635CSI 68,000mile Restoration project

This numbers matching m635csi shadow line was last on the road in 2006.

Don't confuse this with an ordinary 635csi this 1 of only 526 factory supplied m635csi fitted with the legendary m88 24-6 engine (fitted to the original m1) with 286 bhp, mated to a short gate gartrac 5 speed gearbox, lsd and four pot callipers all from the m1

This is car no 400 of 526 and was supplied new with the following factory options:

s0510 headlamp range adjuster

The car runs well and the motor and clutch/gearbox operate well, just been serviced,  I've been able to drive the car a short distance on private land and at a very low speed.

What i can see to be required for the restoration:

Both outer sills and possibly inner sills

lower rear quarter repair panel required both sides

Roof will require work as needs a small repair in the roof panel near sunroof drainage channel

Exhaust rear box needs replacing

Various marks will need sorting out during preparation of paintwork

Re-paint to make stunning

Four tyres

The main structure of the car, is very good, the bulkhead, inner wings and floor pans are all good, both doors, boot, bonnet all very good, no rust, both front wings are good and only require very small localised repairs. The interior is in very good condition, the seats are in great condition, the dash and switch gear very nice no wear, everything works as it was intended. Car was supplied new with air con and was fitted with the se comfort pack.

Anyone wishing to view is welcomed, however this is not an open day to come and view. You must be 99% sure, therefore i'm happy if interested parties wish to bring a bodywork/mechanic to inspect.

I can take a short video, but i guess anyone seriously interested will make the effort to view in person.

This is a very rare opportunity to buy one of the rarest bmw and still obtainable m series cars, with good examples fetching circa £60k, so ample room for the right person to pick up a bargain. My bodywork guy who now has notified me of his pending retirement, so i'm unable to get the work carried out, otherwise i would have been keeping it.

I'm open to sensible conversation on the price and flexible.
