1923 Oldsmobile Opera Coupe Extremely Rare Car in Beautiful Condition

Offering a very unique and different antique automobile.   This is a very rare car and it appears that it is the only surviving 1923 Olds Opera Coupe in North America.  The car stayed hidden away by the original owner with just a few miles on it until 1958. when a fellow found it and restored it. Yes restored in 1958 and it still looks this good.

This Oldsmobile is in very nice condition although the paint could stand freshening up. Mechanically it runs and drives like it did in 1923. This is a rust-free. bondo-free automobile. The car has been kept in original shape throughout with the old style grease fittings. has tools. a safety kit. and Operation Manuals. It starts easily and does not smoke. Oil pressure is about 50 pounds at idle. Runs drives. handles and stops. just like it did in 1923. Take a good look at the pictures they were taken two weeks ago.

This engine is an overhead valve design. which was not only ahead-of-its-time modern for a mass-produced mid-market automobile. but also a remarkable powerhouse: Its efficiency allowed 40hp at 2. 00 RPM (twice that of a Model T Ford) This overhead valve design would be used only through the end of Model 43A production in 1923.

Another new mechanical marvel was Oldsmobile's use of a Warner three-speed sliding gear transmission actuated by a Hoosier single-plate dry disc clutch. While these features. and torque tube drive. were surprisingly advanced. the Model 43A was very much of its period in regards to its leaf-sprung solid front and rear axles without shock absorbers. its 32 x 4-inch Motor Wheel hickory wheels and its rear-only external contracting drum brakes.
