I am selling my 1965 mustang that I have been restoring since I got it in 1997. This car is 98% restored. runs and drives great! I purchased the car in California and it has been here it's whole life. Still have the 1965 black and yellow license plate. I have been restoring this car slowly as I have had the time and the money. Paint was the last thing I did so that it would not get scratched doing any other work to it. I had the car painted by my families paint shop in Lubbock TX in 2007. Since then I have only put about 500 miles on it. Around the same time I rebuilt the engine too. I completed the interior as well. The final touch was I replace the odometer so I could track how many miles I put on it since I completed the restoration. I have not put many miles on it throughout the years as I was in the military travailing around. I left the car stored in California and only moved it when I was getting it worked on. Everything has been replaced on this car. I have all new suspension to include the rear leaf springs with 1 inch lowering blocks. new front coil springs that are 1 inch lower. new KYB shocks all around. upper and lower control arms are also new. New tires and I upgraded to a dual reservoir brake master cylinder with front disc brakes. All the brake hardware in the rear in new too. all new brake lines front to back. New fuel tank. hoses and hardware. The interior is all new too. new seat foam front and back. newly upholstered. new carpet and sound deadening. new headliner. new handles. new door panels. new dash. custom installed stereo with 4 speakers. Two in the front kick panels and two in the rear on the package tray. All glass on the car is original except for the front windshield. I had it replaced when the headliner was done. For the outside. all new bumpers and hardware. new emblems. new grill. new drip rails. new handles. No bondo on this car. We stripped it down to bare metal and cut out two small rust holes behind the rear quarter windows and welded in new metal. The car was then primed in black and sanded to find and fix all dings. A base coat clear coat paint was done with 6 layers of clear.  We wet sanded it and buffed back to a mirror finish with extra heavy. medium. fine and finishing compounds. This is why I did a few coats of clear. I used Lemans Blue from the 2006 ZO6 corvette and added some pearl to it. Now for the drive train. This is where it gets interesting. Everyone wants to just rip out the 6 and put in a V8. I wanted to have the power of the 8 but keep the 6. Matter of fact. I wanted a cool 6. So. I pulled the engine. bored it out . 060 over. installed aluminum pistons. a Clifford 280 cam with . 469 lift intake and exhaust. I installed an exhaust port divider inbetween the two center exhaust ports to balance all ports evenly. The exhaust is vented via a Clifford 6 into 1 long tube header. I had the rotating assembly balanced and the oil passages blue printed. I also installed a new rocker arm with new hardware and used dual valve springs with titanium retainers. Rhodes variable bleed lifters to aid in the low end power. The lifters bleed down a little to allow the cam to produce good low power then the lifters will expand all the way out as the RPM go up and you get the full use of the 280 duration cam. You can tell this car has a cam. it does lope. I modified the intake log by machining 2 additional holes in it to accommodate an Offenhouser tripple carb intake. This allows the engine to breath much better. I then added 3 IHC weber carbs that work progressively. The car will run on one carb (center carb) until you mash on the gas. then it will open up the outer 2 carbs and go go go! To keep this all reliable and drivable. I replaced the ignition system with a Mallory Unilite distributor (no points and condenser) and coil. I removed the manual fuel pump and installed an electric pump that produces 6-8 pounds of fuel pressure for the carbs. For cooling. I have a 3 core aluminum radiator and an electric fan set with an adjustable thermostat. I have a fuse block to control all the newly added electrical just like a modern car. I didn't care for the factory 3 speed manual so I installed a Borg Warner Super Duty T-10 4 speed manual close ratio transmission. The clutch is a modern multi finger pressure plate (26 fingers I believe. got it from CJ pony parts) new with about 500 miles on it as well. Put it in when I did the engine. The bad. I haven't replaced the speedometer cable and it binds sometimes causing the speedometer needle to bounce. Two very small cracks in the paint (see pictures). The stereo is not loud enough to compensate for the loud engine. this could be seen as good or bad. Many other parts replaced. Almost everything! Contact me with any questions you may have. I would prefer to show this car to the buyer in person prior to sale so you can see just how much detail is in this car. I have receipts for everything (file about 4 inches thick). Below are a few video links of start up and running.
