Up for auction is a very solid. original 1982 Mercedes 240D.  The W123 sedan has a timeless styling that still commands attention.  Finished in the much sought after China Blue color. the car is complemented by the beautiful blue interior. including the uber rare uncracked blue dash.  I get compliments wherever I drive her.
This car is not a time capsule perfect car.  I've had those. I've sold those. but this is a very solid original car that you can either drive every day or restore to a show winner.  It's more of a diamond in the rough. a workhorse of a car that will bring untold satisfaction to an owner who appreciates what it is.
I acquired this car in February of '06 from a Texas couple who took loving care of her.  I've put about 4. 00 miles on it. and have concentrated on the mechanical side of things.  I have maintained it by changing the synthetic Rotella oil every 3000 miles and changing belts and brakes as needed.  It has new front rotors and pads and new filters.  With just 67. 00 miles. it has decades and hundreds of thousands of miles of service left in her.
The body is very original and solid.  As you can see from the photos. there is one rust area at the bottom of the driver's door.  Additionally. there are numerous dings and dents and a few places of surface rust but not serious.  Behind the passenger side rear wheel it looks like it took a pretty good whack (see photos). but to be honest I never noticed this until today when I was crawling around under the car looking for flaws.  The underside is very clean otherwise.  The whole body could use a good rubbing out. it has some oxidation.  But again. very original and very solid. A great car to drive or restore.
Mechanically. it's very solid and very reliable.  I would not hesitate to take it on an extended journey.  In fact. I just took it for a 450 mile weekend and it ran like a top. Things to be aware of are the antenna motor is not working (I just keep it up. the radio is wonderful). the A/C needs an R12 charge. the cruise surges and the fuel gauge is a bit funky (needs a sender unit cleaning. not a hard job. )
On the interior. the wood trim on the console has some minor finish checks and the sun visors are puffy.  Not sure what that is.  The netting on the back of the front seats is nice and tight and the MB tex upholstery is darn near perfect.  Carpets are great. and again the dash is perfect. a real rarity among the blue interiors.
This is a wonderful car.  I really hate to get rid of her but I need to thin the herd.  I am a well known Mercedes Club of America owner and am active on several Mercedes forums.  I have sold numerous Mercedes on eBay and would encourage you to check my feedback.  I always describe the cars accurately so there are no undo expectations.  This one is a real special car.
Please only bid if you are serious and ready to buy.  I can help you arrange shipping.  Email me with any questions.  This is your car!  Happy bidding!
